Can anyone suggest some good hostels for student travelers in Paris during the Christmas holiday? A reasonable place with a good location and price?

Hey
This forum is cool, but most people here are older and with more money than student travelers so I would recomend you to go to Lonely planets thorn tree forum http://thorntree.lonelyplanet.com/ its for a younger crowed I think they will be of more help for you.
Have a great trip!

Try Pension les Marronniers

or
Pension Ladagnous
PENSION LADAGNOUS

Vavin

Both are located in the same building in the 6th arrondissement, both are very inexpensive, both are pretty popular so you need to reserve.

How is this hostel? In my experience most student travelers if not traveling with partner (and even then in many cases) are after a place that has a good locations, loads of young people (and old cool ones) to share experience and travel tips with, a place where you can party, have free internet acess, good maps of the area, good cool people that love to party running the place so you can be out late a night with them, if the place have a kitchen where you can cook that really cool too and loads of common areas where people hang to meet new people.

and for the wallet and fun dormatories is a must, but most youth hostels has that...

Funny you should ask, I came across this site just yesterday and bookmarked it for future reference:

Both Pensions I mentioned have excellent reputations for their location, price, cleanliness, they house a lot of students studying at the sorbonne. They also offer meals for an incredibly reasonable rate.
I didn%26#39;t see anything in the original post about the need for loads of young people and a party atmosphere. Location and price was the question.
I%26#39;m not too terribly far away from my student housing days myself...I remember.

I know it sounded like a critic, it was not and ofcause we dont know what she wants. I just ment in general this hostel kind of culture has grown huge, and things like free internet, free kitchen, free sheets, dormatories, low low prices, cheap meals, open bar (in france those places not seldom have open bars wher you get a beer for 1 euro) and many common eras to exchange information is very very popular.
I dont know how far away you are, myself im 23 and have gone damn comfterble so Im very far away from it for the moment;)
But I do think lonly planet is a better forum cause its mostly on a shoestring (but occational splurging) student (or you know kind of hippystyle old people) travelers. Its a cool forum for backpacking and interrailing=)
Best Regards
