Best time to visit Paris? and other info..........

I am thinking of visitng France next year, mainly Paris. First of all I would like to know the best time to visit. Also, what are some places to see if only visiting for 5 or so days?

Any info would be great!

Thanks!

Hi,there.... why don%26#39;t you start by giving us some info?..

Why did you choose to visit Paris?

Have you looked at any guidebooks for some ideas yet?

As far as %26#39;best times%26#39;, it all depends on YOU. Do you like hot weather? Do you like crowds? Do you prefer cool/chilly tems for walking around? Do you want to go when there are the least crowds? Do you want the longest days with most daylight, or would shorter days be ok too, when the sun goes down at 6pm..?

Many people think summer is the best time, therefore there are crowds and lines. That is not the best time for me, I hate the heat and crowds. So my %26#39;best time%26#39; isn%26#39;t the same as many other%26#39;s.

If you want a jumping off place for %26#39;what to do and see%26#39; go look at these online itineraries:

I prefer less crowds and not so hot weather. We are looking for affordibilty.

Affordability is January. No crowds, either. The worst month would be July, when most of the developed world is on holidays.

You may be able to find some good deals in March, but by April the spring season has kicked in and things don%26#39;t really slow down again until Nov.

Hello,

IMO the best time would be in May. The Easter break people are gone and the summer groups have not yet arrived. The weather will more than likely be nice...............gardens are lovely, and generally the airlines might have some ok fares. I cant stand the heat, so summer can be a problem for me if it is really hot there, (which often happens lately).

If you are concerned about air fares and their costs then consider the winter months (Nov til before Easter) when they offer the best prices. It will be cold then, of course, but there is so much to do and see you probably will not mind whatever the weather is.

Keep reading the posts on this site and you will get some great information..

If I may, Paris is super busy from March 15th to July 15th and then from September 1st until November 15th, everything in the middle is more or less low season (of course NYE is super mega hyper high season...) and low season means lower prices but also crappy weather!

Yes, but trans-atalantic airfares for August are through the roof, Kasthor. I think that we can blame it on the French, all 60 Million of them heading to Americas to take advantage of the strong Euro. In any case, not a cheap time to travel for us Yanks.

leeshajoy,

My five trips to Paris have always been in the

month of September.

With one exception (2003), the weather was

wonderful, the crowds were a bit thinner

and the light was gorgeous (I%26#39;m a professional

photographer). Most everthing is open and

the lines seemed not to be too long.

Hello again Leeshajoy,

I woke up in the middle of the night with the a voice in my head saying I had to mention to you about taking an early morning flight out of Paris on your return....................crazy huh?

You might not think about it but it is rather important when making a reservation not to get a particularily early flight. It takes well more than an hour (to be safe) to get to C.D.G. and then you need to have 3 hours to check in and go through security..............You could probably do it in less time but it isnt worth worry about missing your return flight.

So if you have a flght out about 11 AM, you would be leaving Paris at 7 or so which is early enough for me. Have taken afternoon flights out and find them to be the best. Be careful about 8 or 9 AM departures unless you are good at sleepwalking.

Enjoy planning............
