Paris pass

I am looking at buying a Paris Pass which is sold on the internet. It includes free entry to all museums, free metro, open top tour, river cruise, bike hire, food discounts etc. It would cost 285 euros for our family of six for four days, which seems like a great deal. I am just wary because it is not an %26quot;official%26quot; site. Anyone bought one of these?

Hmm, I%26#39;d never heard about it so I googled it... Official passes I know and that come up with the search are the museum pass and the paris visite, the first one being (obviously) for museums and the second one for transportation, the second one includes discounts to all kinds of stuff but does not include museums.

Now I found another pass, on lastminute.com called teh paris pass which includes the batobus and the opentour but nor public transportation nor museums... Also it is only valid for 2 or three days and not 4, the only pass that covers 4 days is the museum pass.

What about posting the link to the webpage so one can figure out what it is?

Hi,

I only know the official Museumspass (www.parismuseumpass.fr). It is 45 Euro for 4 days per Person and gives free access to several museums and other sightseeing spots like Arc de Triomphe. It is sold from the participating places and the Tourist Information.

I would be careful with the Paris pass, if its%26#39;s sold by some private firm. Maybe you could name the seller of that pass?

Thanks for the replies. The site I was looking at is Paris-Pass.com.

However, I have just received an email from this site saying I am too late to purchase it as we leave tomorrow and they need to allow 10 days for delivery. I would have been a little wary anyway as the pass can only be bought online. It%26#39;s usually my motto that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is! I am thinking of buying the open bus tour two-day for about 90 euros for the 6 of us. Does anyone recommend this as good value? Our 4 children are aged between 3 and 11. I would love feedback as to the sights that we MUST see.

Thanks again

The Paris-Pass is just a bundling of two items:

- Museum Pass

- Paris Visite pass

The site is selling a 5-day Paris-Pass for 139E.

Separately the 4-day museum pass (there is no 5-day) would cost 45E and the 5-day P.V. pass would cost 27E = 72E.

So - no it isn%26#39;t a good deal. Just buy them separately.

Thanks for pointing that out to me - I feel rather silly for not working that out myself! I didn%26#39;t realise that the Paris Visite also includes the L%26#39;Open Tour and the river cruise, and that the Museum pass also included the monuments such as the Arc de Triomphe. I assume we wouldn%26#39;t need to buy Museum passes for our children as they are free at most. Thanks again.

Just to clarify, the PV pass does NOT include the L%26#39;Open Bus OR the Batobus or other river cruises. It does however come with a package of options that are detailed in this post by ArrowCapet: http://tinyurl.com/y9lq87

Whether it is a good buy or not depends on your personal preferences, how much use you think you will make of public transport, where you are staying, and other imponderables. More information about Paris transportation and the various passes and tickets can be found at the RATP official site: www.ratp.fr.

If you opt for BOTH the L%26#39;Open Bus AND the Batobus (which I wouldn%26#39;t) I can%26#39;t see how you would make enough use of the métro/bus system in a four day visit to make the PV pass worthwhile.

Incidentally, the Batobus and the river cruises operated by various companies are two different things. The Batobus stops at and can be boarded at various places along the Seine, the cruises are circular trips from a fixed starting and ending point.

A full listing of the sites and museums covered by the Museum Pass is on the official site, parismuseumpass.fr

Yes, I just want to say I missed the .pdf file on the Paris-Pass website, and thus underrated the value. There are a few benefits buried in that file that would make the price more fair, as long as a visitor wanted to do those things and had time to do so. I believe some of the extras not normally covered by the museum pass were places like Espace Dali, Tour Montparnasse, bike rental and the two mentioned by IrishRovr...

I think it would be an awful lot to try to travel by Batobus, metro/bus, bikes and l%26#39;Opentour ..! espec. for 4 days.
