CDG Processing Time

Hey, I have friends flying into Charles De Gaulle airport at 6.30 in the morning, and they have to be at Gare De Lyon at 8.30am in time to catch a train. Does anyone know what the processing times would be for them to get through passport control, get their luggage and out of the airport?

WIll they make the train on time?

Any help would be great, thanks!

It is about an hour from CDG to GdL. Which gives your friends one hour to get out of the airport. This should be doable if their flight is on time, their plane lands at a gateway and not at the terminal that requires a twenty minute bus ride to the main airport, and their baggage gets out in a timely manner. Lots of ifs there, but if they miss their train, they should be able ot negotiate their way on to the next one.

Hi there - we arrived in CDG at 6.30am. Unfortuately, so did 3 or 4 other plane loads. It was hell in the baggage collection area - it took ages to get the bags, then to move at a snail pace pushing your trolley - past another 4 or 5 baggage carousels, joining the not-so-merry throng as we crawled towards the exit. THEN up the lift (took another half hour or more) THEN onto the bus, to the railway station. Lined up for about 20 minutes to buy the train tix to Nord. Got into the city at 11 am.

My best advice - advise them to change the train departure time to at least 12 noon. That would take the pressure off.

If everything goes through without any hassle, it%26#39;s still going to be tight. Cab from CDG to Gare de Lyon would make it quicker, but it only takes one hold up to wreck all of the plans.

CDG is generally very busy in the morning. I try to do carry-on only and if I rush out of the plane and get on line quickly, I can be out of the airport in 15 minutes.

However, there have been other situations where the plane has landed not at the terminal gate, but way out on the runway where I have had to take a bus to get to the terminal. You then need to go through passport control which is usually not too bad (for me 20 minutes at most) but then you need to wait for your luggage. When you take the bus to the terminal, this procedure might take an hour just by itself.

In any case, I think your friends will have a stressful morning, wondering if they will make their train or not.

If your friends are arriving from Oz and have checked baggage I think the chances of them making the 8:30 departure are slim at best. If they are arriving on a weekday a taxi would probably not be a time-saver.

As phread says, if they have pre-purchsed full fare tickets they should be able to travel on a later train though they will likely have to pay a small re-booking fee. If they have non-refundable tickets they will have to purchase tickets for the later train at full fare however.

Are they travelling to Grenoble? If so, and if they have not already purchased tickets that are non-refundable, the easiest way to make the trip from CDG would be to take a direct train to Lyon and change there for Grenoble. Should take about four hours.

Due to long and drawn out circumstances, I recently was scheduled to arrive 1 hour before my daughter%26#39;s flight (both in CDG), mine from Zurich, her%26#39;s from the U.S.A. I was to land at 9:00 am, with daughter at 10:05. Due to fog, my flight was delayed. We were told the flight out of Zurich was delayed due to fog in PARIS, but daughter%26#39;s long haul flight did land on time. Daughter (an unaccompanied minor) arrived at 10:00 am. Once I reached her at 11 am (kept by A/F staff), we were going to try to rush to make an 11:35 am train home. She arrived and was kept at 2F, so it wasn%26#39;t THAT far from the train station. However, by the time I reached her and went to collect her bags, one was not there. We had to fill out the %26quot;delayed%26quot; bag forms, etc. By this time there was no way we would make the 11:35 train. Luckily, I had booked the 2 pm train as I figured we%26#39;d never make 11:35.

So, the poster who said that one snag can screw it all up, is absolutely right. Daughter and I have done this before and had no troubles, but you never know.

Oh and I forgot to say, I was traveling with only a carry-on bag, so if I had had to wait for bags, it would have added to the already long delay...
