My sister daughter and I will be in Paris November 28th arriving CDG about 2 P.M. Looking for a hotel that would be good to get back to the airport the next day for a 2 P.M. flight to the USA. Also what could we see in this small time frame. Should we taxi or ride the train into town. I know this could depend on the hotel location. Any advice would be much appreciated. Hope not to spend over $150 Euros on triple room.
Regards,
Mary Ann

HÔTEL HENRI IV-RIVE GAUCHE (3-star)--9-11 rue Saint Jacques (at rue Saint Severin,

This great little 3-star may be a few € more than your budget for a %26#39;..triple..%26#39;...but it makes up for it in charm...and perhaps more importantly CONVENIENCE. It is located two(2) short blocks south of the Exit (at Petit Pont across the Seine...intersection of quai St. Michel / quai de Montebello / rue St. Jacques---escalators up to street level...the large, imposing building just across the Seine may look familiar) from the RER portion of the SAINT MICHEL-NOTRE DAME station complex....which will make for efficient, inexpensive airport transfers between CDG and Paris.
It will also be within easy strolling walking distances of a great many of Paris%26#39; major sights and attractions as well as more than enough good restaurants, bistros and cafés to suit almost any taste, appetite or budget. The location is approx 500 meters from Point Zero...the center of Paris.
The RER %26#39;B%26#39; ligne--ROISSYRAIL--train connection from its two(2) stations within CDG, will get you to the SAINT MICHEL-NOTRE DAME station in approx 44-48 mins...one way-fare 8,10 €..then a short two block stroll to the hotel lobby.

I can%26#39;t help you with the hotel, but whatever you do, get an all- day pass for the Metro. It is so efficient you can be anywhere in 15 minutes. If you are religious see NotreDame. It is magnificent and very close to the Ile de la Cite metro stop. Sacre Coer is also beautiful to see, ride the funicular to the top. . There is a artists%26#39; district right next to the church. The view of Paris from there is outstanding. TATI is near the Sacre Coer and a great place to shop at bargain prices. I got an amazing suit there for about 60 Euro. It is more of a street of shops than a department store. The Louvre will take too long for a one day visit but walking around the outside of it is beautiful. I recommend a Boat cruise on the Seinne after dark. The eiffel tower is amazing and Paris is, after all, the city of light. If you can find the Rue Claire (near the Eiffel Tower), eat a meal there. It is a great outdoor market and has many wonderful cafes, cheese shops, wine shops.

If you take the hotel in the Latin Qtr., then you could take the RER into town (8,50E ea) and get off at teh St Michel station. After posing your bags it will probably be 5pm. Head to Notre Dame for a visit. Stroll to the western tip of the island (ND is on Ile de la Cite) and hop on to the 6:30 Vedettes du Pont Neuf boat cruise, which is 10E each, but you can get 2 E off per person if you go to their site and print out a coupon.
Once back, it will be supper time. I%26#39;d suggest taking hte bridge south across the Seine and staying on the rue Dauphine for a stroll into the St Germain area. Because of your hotel budget and the fact that you maybe tired from the flight, I am thinking that you will want something easy for dinner. I can recommend Le Cafe des Editeurs at Odeon (not cheap, but you%26#39;ll just be getting one course which will keep it affordable and easy) for a chic-ish atmosphere. A crepe restaurant on the rue St Andre des Arts (there are several, all pretty much the same). Time for bed.
In the morning you should go to a cafe for breakfast.. coffee and croissant, oh so Paris. For a US flight you will need to be back on the RER by 11am to get to the airport for noon, so I think that you will only have time for a brief stroll through the Luxembourg gardens, a peek into the Cluny museum for the Lady and the Unicorn tapestries or the Pantheon to see Rochfoucault%26#39;s pendulum.
