Paris, Help...oh wise ones.

Hi after many many trips to Italy we are heading to France in the spring with our 2 daughters ages 11 and 14. I am confused. (as usual) Can we stay within the city of Paris for around 200 E per night for 4 in a decent place? Would like to walk most places.

Any recommendations for a week itinerary to include drive to Provence for a few days? And a hotel there.

Are prices similar to Italy in the cities? What about language, I will learn a little more but am far from fluent.

Thank You and I appreciate any help from my friends. DKEL

One week is too short for a road trip to Provence. You could try the train, but I would really recommend that you stick to something a bit closer. The chateaux of the Loire make for a great side trip, as does a visit to Mont St Michel. Both are considerably closer. A high speed train to Brussels is another, excellent option.

As for hotels, I believe that it can be done. I always recommend the Hotel Lindbergh, which is very well located, has nice quad rooms and a friendly staff. Otherwise, there will be countless suggestions to follow...

For itinerary help, the guide boks usually layout great sample itineraries. With kids it is always good to include lots of stuff that meet%26#39;s their interests.

Prices are higher in France than in Italy. Language is no problem.

If you enter the word %26quot;quad%26quot; in the forum search, you%26#39;ll pull up quite a few threads with hotel recommendations...

DKEL,

I have never found the language a problem in Paris.

I had cards made, which say in French,

%26quot;I am sorry, I am about to murder your language%26quot;.

Waitstaff, bartenders and others laugh, it breaks

the ice and we manage to communicate quite

well after that.
