Hey Wiz -

I like it! Looks like there might be some really pretty spots close by, especially along the river. There%26#39;s something very typical about the village, that seems to have a %26quot;we may not have much to be proud of, but we%26#39;re proud of what we have%26quot; kind of style. Do you know what I mean, and am I right about the place?

Like the house too. It%26#39;s got a lot of potential, IMO. And no, I%26#39;m not being sarcastic - not in the least.

Just might have to stop by one day to see if you are in residence. I doubt it would be too hard to find a crazy Aussie in a place that size...

spot on about the attitude - lots of European money being spent on restoring the houses, lots of civic pride, all the necessary shops, but the only supermarket is a minicasino. To me that says people who care...........

I hope I can cut myself a slice of the European money, too!

Just an update - Mrs Wiz signed the papers on Monday, the house is ours. The Notaire even managed a couple of words in English. I was totally bi-lingual :¬D

We arranged to meet the roofing guy that afternoon, but he went to the wrong Preuilly. Those satnavs arent very clever...........

This means I will be tripping again to do the roof thing before xmas, and then over again at xmas. If Im not careful, the French will start to think I like them.

On Another topic entirely, we went to Fontevraud on Sunday. It%26#39;s really interesting seeing a brand new medieval building. No atmosphere though............

I hope so. We have a communist mayor and no faces of colour in town, so we may get a grant just to annoy the co-conspritors.

Talking of socialists........... The publican at Hotel l%26#39;Image in PsC claims that Ségolène is %26quot;pire que Mrs Thatcher %26quot;. Can%26#39;t see it myself, but he may know something I don%26#39;t, she is a local girl (relatively speaking).
