Christmas, what's going on in Paris?

We%26#39;re thinking about spending our Christmas in Paris. I was wondering if there is anything special to see in Paris during this holiday? Are any of the sights decorated or any special events going on to see? How is the weather typically, any snow?

Merci, John

Hi,

This is the link I use to get lots of info for my December trip:

http://en.parisinfo.com/rub8282.html

This is the link I use for weather: (It gives the next 2 weeks forcaste):

http://wwwa.accuweather.com/world-forecast-15day.asp?partner=accuweather%26amp;myadc=0%26amp;traveler=0%26amp;zipcode=EUR|FR|FR012|PARIS|%26amp;metric=1

But the weather is generally cold, showery and I%26#39;ve seen snow twice in Paris during December in the last 4/5 years.

Have a great trip if you decide to go, but I go late November/December every year and wouldn%26#39;t miss it!

We%26#39;re just back from Paris. Most of the Department Stores have their decorations in place, and the ice rink by the Hotel de Ville is currently being constructed.

I think most of the districts switch on their decorations from the start of December.

I, too, am interested in spending Christmas in Paris this year. My husband is going to be in Europe on business until 12/22 and I thought I%26#39;d just fly out and meet him there for a unique holiday. I%26#39;d love to hear what you find out about what to see/do/eat in Paris when it%26#39;s (supposedly) shut tight for the holidays.

I have been in Paris from mid Dec. til the 30th.

The weather can be chilly. Snow is rare in Paris. Just wear layered clothes..good scarf, gloves, etc.

I dined at Violon d%26#39;Ingres on Christmas Eve (I would check for opening) and Christmas Day at Les Ambassadeurs in the Hotel Crillon. You should be able to pull up their menu and make reservations.

The decorations are beautiful...good time to go

I am going early Feb. and will stay at the Westminster..the Michelin starred Celadon is there and a beautiful bar area...great Delta airfare.

Here%26#39;s another good link from the Paris Tourist office web page - list of museums and monuments that will be open Christmas Day and New Year%26#39;s Day. There%26#39;s not many - but interesting to know you could climb the Eiffel Tower and look at the lights from above! Or maybe the Tour Montparnasse if it%26#39;s too cold to be outside!

We are also spending christmas in paris - there are six of us - and we would like to have a great long christmas lunch in a nice atmospheric restaurant. Any ideas?? We don%26#39;t have huge amounts of cash (so no hotel crillion) but we don%26#39;t mind spending a little bit extra ...
