How do we get to Meribel from Paris over New Year's?

We are going to Paris for Christmas and thought we%26#39;d spend a few days skiing at Meribel. Dec 29 - Jan 1. I believe we are staying 10 minutes up from the village of Meribel, close to the pistes. We probably don%26#39;t need to move that much.

Could anyone tll me what is the most painless way to get there (within reason)?

Is it better to rent a car in Paris? Take the TGV and then rent a car. Fly? I have no sense of the traffic or the time it will take.

hi, r u staying in Mottaret? the village up from meribel? the best way is to get the train from paris into Moutiers or maybe fly into one of the regional airports chamberry i think it is and then get the mountain bus up to the resorts.. i worked in mottaret back in jan/feb %26#39;02 and it was an okay resort, meribel was better.. with your ski pass you get the bus from mottaret for free.. go to d1cks t bar pub in meribel full of fun etc- you will more likely bump into most of the reps and seasonal staff in this place..

you can get the ski lift over to saulire and then ski down to courchevel 1850- i loved courchevel and did 2 months in this resort also... have fun :o)

hi!

thanks for your reply. we are staying in the village of Meribel. The place is called Chalet Parc-Alpin. (www.parc-alpin.com). It%26#39;s at Meribel 1600.

I went ahead and bought TGV tix to Moutiers and arranged for private taxi to the chalet. I look forward to checking out Courcheval as well.

I just hope there will be snow at the end of December.

thanks again.
