I shall be in Paris for
Christmas with my 16 year old daughter, arriving on 12/24. We want to go to a Christmas Eve service at Notre Dame, and wonder whether anyone knows whether we can just go there for the services. Also, wonder whether there are any good restaurants that are not too expensive that we can dine on Xmas Eve. We are staying in the 1st arrondisement. Also, we%26#39;re planning to make a pilgramage to Pere Lachaise on Xmas Day, as well as just explore the Tuilleries... any other suggestions?
Merci Beaucoup!

Hi there
We (a couple) are also planning on being in Paris for Christmas
and hopefully attending Midnight Mass at either Notre Dame or Sacre Couer.
From what I understand it gets very very packed for Mass.
The recommendation is to get there for about 8pm!
As for Midnight Mass at Sacre Couer
December 24, 2006
Opening Hours: Doors open 10pm, ceremony from 10.30pm (finishes in time for visitors to catch the last metro home)
Cost: Free
As for other things to do in Paris for Christmas there is an excellent article from the NY Times (a bit dated but very interesting and helpful) I have looked up a few of the things that are mentioned and are making plans to see/visit them.
you can find that here:
query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html…
As for dining I%26#39;ve heard that the French love to do the big feast after midnight mass so you will have some choices as to where to go.
If I find any place that sounds good, is well priced and gets great reviews I will pass them on to you.
Please let me know as well if you come across any tips on spending the holidays in Paris.
