I thought I should post this here in case anyone who traveled on BA recently is affected and reads this forum. You may want to call BA to make sure you were are not one of the people on their %26quot;list%26quot;.

Radioactive traces on BA planes

Traces of a radioactive substance have been found on two British Airways planes at Heathrow Airport, says BA.

The aircraft, plus a third in Moscow, are being tested as part of the probe into the death in London of former KGB agent Alexander Litvinenko.

Passengers who travelled on the Boeing 767s - which operated on European routes including London to Moscow - are being contacted.

%26#39; You may want to call BA to make sure you are not one of the people on their %26quot;list%26quot;. %26#39;

Sorry for the grammar mistake in my first post, should have read as above......

DON%26#39;T call BA just because you travelled on them recently. There is a very specific list of flights on the website which you should look at first. People jamming the phonelines unecessarily will make it harder for the people who actually flew on the planes to get through. None of the planes involved flew to Paris.

ajeleonard- good points

Here is a cut/paste with all the BA flights/info:

British Airways has been advised that three of its Boeing 767 short haul aircraft have been identified by the UK government as part of the investigation into the death of Alexander Litvinenko.

The airline was contacted last night (Tuesday, November 28) by the government. It has taken the three B767s out of service to enable forensic examination to be carried out.

The initial results of the forensic tests, which was confirmed late this afternoon, has shown very low traces of a radioactive substance onboard two of the three aircraft.

British Airways has been advised that this investigation is confined solely to these three B767 aircraft, which will remain out of service until further notice.

British Airways understands that from advice it has been given that the risk to public health is low.

The airline is in the process of making contact with customers who have travelled on flights operated by these aircraft, which operate within Europe.

Many people who frequent this forum travel to other destinations before coming to Paris by train or other means.

When this story first came to light my immediate thought was how challenging it would be to try to trace all the people who came into contact with the radiation and all the people THEY came into contact with and so on.

I suppose if this were going to happen somewhere, England is the best place as I feel the authorities there are more likely to get to the bottom of it than anyone else......

sorry to be picky by why would you post this on here, scare mongering is not a good idea. BA have laready said they will contact the passengers involved.

The risk to general public is beleived from reports to be very low.

This is one of those rare occasions when I wouldb%26#39;t be the slightest bit bothered if the post disappeared.

Interesting - these planes have flown to various countries, but the only TA %26#39;warning%26#39; appears on the Paris forum, which wasn%26#39;t a destination at all. I%26#39;ve just checked the London forum for the latest on radiation scares ... and I%26#39;m still laughing ....
