We are very much looking forward to our holiday in France in May 2007 and want to make the most of week in Paris. We are staying in Saint Germaine and I would love some recommendations of French restaurants in the area in the medium price range. We enjoy more casual dinning and do not like huge meals, preferring quality and friendly staff over food quantity.
We are staying in an S/C apartment and will also need to shop for basic supplies when we arrive. Are there many supermarkets or convenience stores in this area?
Thanks
Bev

There is a Monoprix dept store/grocery store where rue de Rennes and Blvd St Germain meet up.
you can find some nice restaurants using various %26#39;sort%26#39; options at:
www.bestrestaurantsparis.com
Most brasseries/ large cafes will be open early-late and have a very open %26#39;menu%26#39; (actually, carte) so you can order whatever you want.
All establishments post a signboard with their menu/carte so you can study it before going in.

There is a CHAMPION supermarché-- http://www.champion.fr/ --located at 60 rue de Seine (btwn. Blvd. St. Germain %26amp; Carrefoure de Buci) just around the corner from the daily Mon-thru-Sat) rue de Buci streetmarket.

Try to get a reservation at Le Comptoir. IT%26#39;s the hot ticket right now, prix fixe menu at 42 euros. But you need to reserve months and months in advance.

The Champion that KDK mentions is in the middle of a small street market, where you%26#39;ll also find fresh vegetables and fruit. There are thousands of good and casual restaurants in the Saint-GerMAIN area. Vagenende, on the bd itself, is a good example of brasserie; Les Editeurs, on place de l%26#39;Odéon, has got a nice pseudo-intellectual décor and OK food. Don%26#39;t go to le Procope, maybe Paris%26#39;s oldest café, but most certainly one of its most notorious tourist traps.
