I%26#39;ll be flying from Atlanta to Paris, staying for 1 week with a friend. Right now, the airfare is around $900 - $1000 each. Do you think trying to book now is too early?
I%26#39;ve already received some good suggestions from hotels and such from other posts, but, I%26#39;m not sure that some of the smaller places that aren%26#39;t listed on major travel websites will be able to book that far in advance? I%26#39;ve tried contacting the Andre Latin Hotel, via e-mail, but have not heard a response.
I am looking to get a good deal, but, I also want to make sure I get to go :o)
Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Merci!

I just did 2 quick searches on Sidestep and Kayak and both had airfares on Continental for a little under $900. I bet you can do better between now and next June. You just have to be willing to be patient. Remember, squirming won%26#39;t kill you, it%26#39;ll build character.

I%26#39;d wait on the air, but I%26#39;m not sure it%26#39;s ever too early to book hotels.

Hi
I don%26#39;t know how airfares go up and down in America, but in DK you get the cheapest airfares when booking a long time ahead, so I have bought my planeticket for June 2007 already.
As to hotels - I always book at least 7-8 months in advance, and in small budget hotels only - and I have never had any problem getting a confirmation. Often you can get a discount if you pay for the room in advance - that way you are sure that your booking is %26quot;bullet-proof%26quot;.
This website is not an agency - you deal directly with the hotels - but is very good for searching and the hotels give all the necessary information in an easily understood way:

Yesterday I just bought my plane tickets for a trip to Amsterdam in April. The flight home was nearly sold out and I was %26quot;thisclose* to being stuck in a middle seat. That being said, it%26#39;s probably not too early to book. June is peak travel time and the fares will likely be pretty high.

About two weeks ago, the flights were cheaper. I%26#39;m not sure if that is something because of the holidays in the US? All airfare peaks around Thanksgiving / Christmas, regardless of when / where you%26#39;re going? Maybe, I have no idea.
I will definitely check out the other sites and suggestions!
Thanks so much for the help!

I%26#39;d be surprised if they come down very much - you could hit a special or a sale fare, but then again they could go up at any time!
I%26#39;ve already booked our flights to Mexico for July. I%26#39;m too nervous to be a gambler, I guess. I just checked those fares for the heck of it and they%26#39;re the same, so now I can tell myself that I did the right thing!

Hi --
Often fares come down in January/February, but there might be a limitation on travel dates. Before you book, call the airline and ask if you can receive a refund should the price decrease before you travel. I have no idea what the answer will be - but it never hurts to ask - the worst they can do is say no --
Good luck.

Check out this site to see what the numbers suggest : www.farecast.com
The smaller hotels can take reservations for June now, and they will almost always let you cancel up to a week in advance, so you could reserve for now and still change your mind later. Many French hotels are not as internet savvy as one would expect, it is really best to call them and ask for a confirmed reservation in writing via the internet, fax or snail mail.

I have already booked our air for next August-September and all our hotels in Paris and other locales in France. Small hotels tend to book up and June is high season. When we were there last June, I had made the bookings the previous July.
As to Air, you may find deals a bit later but June is peak flying time and if you have firm dates you may find that the cheaper seats sell out. Keep in mind that on almost any flight people sitting next to each other may have paid drastically different amounts. If you belong to any airline frequent flyer club, check to see if they or their partners have flights to Paris. Even if you cannot use your miles, you may find some deals that way especially if you are a preferred member. You may also want to look at cheap flights from Atlanta to someplace like NYC where there are many airlines flying to Paris and more competition. I don%26#39;t know if that will in fact be cheaper than $900. But I do know that on any flight there are only a certain number of cheap seats and once they are gone, you will pay more.
As to hotels, I book directly with my hotels, all small via e-mail and get confiormations that way. Have not had any problems.
The other thing to check, is whether you can get a one week package with air and hotel through a major airline like Air France. Then you could deconstruct the rates and see which way is cheaper.
