I will be staying at the Club Sunterra at Royal Regency in Vincennes, France. I plan to visit Paris often that week i%26#39;m there.
(oct 14-22) Any suggestions on what tours to take in the daytime and evening. Will any of these tours pick me up in Vincennes? Most of the tours places i see on the internet say they will only pick up at a Paris hotel! I really don%26#39;t want to rent a car......Please can anyone give me some good advice. Thanks

Try to google Michael Osman (or find him on this site). If you are able to arrange to hire him for about $100 per day, he will take you anywhere you want to go. He will meet you anywhere, use the bus/metro and teach you how to use. He gives great tours. Normally you pay for his lunch also.

djtravelgate, I agree that Michael Osman is a good guide.
I am not sure which is his older website but I think the second is the current one

This is his email parisfind@aol.com but be warned that you may need to persevere and chase him a few times before he answers you. He is popular so he is often too busy
His fee was 75 Euros a day in February 2005, plus I paid for his lunch %26amp; coffee stops. We did not go to any museums (my choice) so I am not sure if you have to pay for your own entrance but I assume Michael has a pass so you would not pay for his. He will take you by public transport and I assume (cant remember) that I covered my own fares.
I would be inclined to have Michael only for a day, either to help orientate you to Paris or to take you to the major museums, where he is reputedly a fabulous guide. Then I would just come in by train or metro to the centre and either see the sites yourself by public bus and metro, or use L%26#39;OpenTour bus that takes you on 4 routes that cover all the most famous sights and you hop on or off, or on another day take the batobus and hop on and off as you tour along the Seine, or take some of the excellent and cheap 2 hour or so guided walking tours - here are some sites (the second and third each have bike tours and the third also has segway tours)

Hi. Try contacting Linda at ParisPhotoTours.com (like you, she%26#39;s from Texas). They%26#39;re very flexible, creative, fun and always get rave reviews.

I was in Paris in June and went on two of the Fat Bikes Walking Tours....a Classic Walk (abotu 4 hours) that ht the %26quot;main sites%26quot; and then a Montmartre walk (about 2 hours). Both were excellent!!! Small groups, friendly guides, and willingness to cater to your interests and questions. Fantastic! I especially like the Classic Walks!! I may be going back in January and will definitely take another...maybe a bicycle one this time!

Oh! Sorry! Just read that you wanted a pick-up in Vincennes.....a walking tour might not be the best then! haha. Sorry!

Dear djtravelgate
I stayed for a week at the Royal Regency in November 2005 and agree with Faux suggestions to use the metro and come into the centre of Paris and use the %26quot;LÓpen Tour Buses. I think there is a 2 day pass for about 28 Euros which allows you to try the four different tours. Beware the buses can be cold, particularly if you want to sit upstairs in the open. The best views but exposed. I preferred the route that runs from the Arc de Triomphe and Effiel Tour to the Louvre. Also try and get into town relatively early. The LÓpen Tour buses are good but can get caught up in Paris%26#39; heavy traffic.
Sugget also that if you are staying at the Royal Regency to bring a passport photograph with you and get a Carte Orange. This is a weekly travel ticket (starting Monday) for the Metro and buses and trains (I think) and offers the best value. It can be bought from the Vincennes Metro station, but you need to find the main ticket office. There are several entrances into the station and it took us a day to find the ticket office.
Happy to answer any questions you may have about Vincennes and the Royal Regency.
Cheers Kenyonkid
