Hi,
My husband and I will be staying in Paris at the end of May for 3 nights (2 full days) before flying back home. We plan on vacationing in Athens, Crete and Santorini for 13 days and then stopping over to Paris.
The thing is I%26#39;ve visited Paris before (twice) but I only had a couple of days to visit (each time), and I didn%26#39;t feel I actually got to %26#39;know%26#39; Paris. The first time, my friends and I tried to hit as many museums and major attractions (Musee d%26#39;Orsey, Louvre, Champs Elysée, Eiffel tower, Seine cruise, Sacre Coeur, Invalides, etc) in 2-3 days...it was sooo tiring and stressful! The second time, I went with my cousin and she couldn%26#39;t care less about visiting the major attractions (it was her first time there)...we hit the major department stores and I made her visit Chateau Versaille (since I didn%26#39;t get to see it the last time I was there)...and we shopped some more. As you can tell both trips were very different!
So here%26#39;s my situation now, I%26#39;ve always dreamt of visiting the Greek islands and I managed to convince my husband to go next year for 2 weeks. This will be the first time my husband will be vacationing in Europe and he wanted to visit a city that all first-timers should go to: Paris or London. We decided on Paris, since it%26#39;s slightly more affortable than London.
Our hotel budget is approx 100euros/night. Based on this forum and the reviews, I%26#39;ve narrowed it down to the following hotels:
1) Hôtel Chopin ---88 euros/night (9th arrond. -Opéra)
2) Hôtel Résidence Monge ---110-125 euros/night (5th arrond. -Latin quarter)
3) Hôtel Langlois ---114-130 euros/night (9th arrond. -Opéra)
4) Hôtel Moderne St Germain ---110 euros/night (5th arrond. -Latin quarter)
I don%26#39;t think we%26#39;ll be visiting any museums since my husband won%26#39;t be interested, plus I%26#39;ve visited them before. I do know we%26#39;ll be visiting the Eiffel tower, Champs Elysée, Notre Dame (I didn%26#39;t get to visit it last time), Seine cruise, etc. I know I would like to eat amazing (affordable) French food and take in Paris%26#39; culture...but also be able to walk a short distance (5-20mins) to all the attractions I%26#39;ve mentioned above from my hotel.
I know it may be impossible in 2 days, but can we visit all the main attractions (excl museums) AND have time to take in Paris%26#39; culture?
So which area should we stay in since we only have two full days in Paris (we land at 6:30pm in Paris on May 30th and fly back to Toronto on June 2)?
Is it worth the extra euros for hotels 2 - 4?? Would you recommend a different hotel?
Sorry for all the questions..and the long post!
Thanks in advance!

Through my own research (via the help of the folks on this Forum), I have found that Hotel Champ du Mars has excellent reviews and is actually cheaper than the ones you%26#39;ve listed (84 euro) (not to mention within walking distance from the Eiffel Tower--7th arrond.). I cannot provide you with my personal experience since I haven%26#39;t stayed there, but if you want to check it out the website is:
www.hotel-du-champ-de-mars.com/index.html
There is a phone number on the ACCUEIL page below the picture (it took a TA member to point that out to me :-) )
Read the reviews, with those and the candid photos provided by TA, the image that develops is lovely. If you%26#39;d like, I can check it out when I go there this weekend and provide you with some details as to quality, cleanliness and staff.

Thanks for the info! I noticed there%26#39;s no A/C at the hotel...do you think it will be hot and humid at the end of May/beg. of June?
Please let me know how your stay was at the Champ de Mars hotel!

I%26#39;m sorry. I forgot there were 3 other seasons that people take vacation :-). Living in Germany, those two months are actually comfortable. It appears Europe%26#39;s hot summer weather doesn%26#39;t really begin until July. Now that I think about it, the Azores (Portugal) was pretty cool during May and June as well. However, I cannot tell you for sure about Paris, as it also seems that every country is a little different in its weather. If you can find weather archives, last year%26#39;s weather reports might help you.
Oh no, I won%26#39;t be stayin at the Champ de Mars. They are booked for my time frame. I was just willing to stop by there and check it out if you were interested.

I just found this website: http://www.parisescapes.com/paris_sleep.html. It was nestled in another topic forum from someone who has been to Paris several times and just got back from a recent trip. I haven%26#39;t checked the rates of each of the hotels on the site, but there are detailed reviews on some of them and they%26#39;re grouped by location. The creater(s) of this website did an awesome job. If you browse it, you find all kinds of good information. I already feel much more at ease about my upcoming trip.

Thanks for the info! I%26#39;ll check the website out.
