Did anyone make New Years Eve plans yet?

We are looking for something nice to do on NYE. Dinner, dancing etc. Let me know if you have found anything!

Still searching myself... and am open to ideas from any of the experts!

Although, from what I%26#39;ve gathered here, NYE is not quite the same event for locals who seem to gather more intimately w/ friends and such.

I%26#39;ve thought about the Jim Haynes Sunday dinner since NYE falls on Sunday this year.... but not sure that%26#39;s such a great idea for NYE.

I%26#39;ve concluded that sometimes the best plans are those made at the last minute so I%26#39;m open to spontaneity and may very well just wait until I arrive in Paris before deciding on what to do.

Good luck and please pass along your ideas if you come across something particularly interesting.

Merci!

No, not yet...neither for NYE or Xmas Eve/Day :(

Really don%26#39;t relish the idea of being seated at a table when the %26#39;ball%26#39; drops.

May do Xmas meals at home (we are renting an apartment) and play it by ear for NYE.

Was thinking of booking Cafe du Commerce for a 9.30 dinner and then heading over to the Tour Eiffel area for midnight, but have heard the restaurant is under new ownershipand has slid downhill - so scrapped those plans.

Any bright ideas anyone? We are 3 from San Francisco, Two energetic 55 year olds and our 25 year old daughter.

Don%26#39;t want to have to %26#39;dress up%26#39;, because we are going to wander the streets at some point and I%26#39;m not doing it in high heels and a flimsy outfit.

Yeah, i%26#39;d be very interested to here what the experts have to say, but I went to the Czech Republic several years ago with no plans and ended up having one of the best new year%26#39;s ever.

There have been many threads on NYE in the past few weeks (do a search and you%26#39;ll find them).

The %26#39;experts%26#39; tend to be very blase about NYE and seem to all recommend booking a restaurant table. No other options have been offered that I can find.

Might be fun if you are a crowd, but sounds boring when there are only 2 or 3 of you :(

We are looking for a dinner and dancing type thing. We seem to be having a hard time finding something in our budget. We considered going to Spicy restaurant 175 euros for all of the champagne you would like and a 5 course dinner and dancing. Expensive for us, though. Please let me know if anyone finds anyting like that.

Let%26#39;s keep this thread bouncing, hopefully someone will share some thoughts sooner or later...... Come on folks, somebody out there must have something to share w/ all of us eager to bring in the new year in Paris. Merci!

i cant suggest you one friend%26#39;s restaurant, its called spicy, its about 5 minutes walking from les champs elysees (even less, like 1 minute) theyve got a nice NYE menu, and you could have dinner there and then go on the champs to see the fireworks etc and then come back to party in the restaurant. here is the link http://www.spicyrestaurant.com/. the menu is 175 euros and youve got champagne and wine as much as you want.

|||

amjones didnt see your post :) yes its expensive but NYE in paris, im not sure youll find any restaurant under 150 euros/person, even the crapy ones, especially near the champs or famous attractions for NYE. and spicy is good, so you are sure to have a nice dinner there :)

Are there any recomendations for outside of the touristy areas?

Sorry guys, we really are not trying to be blase. Things are just different here. As a local, I usually spend NYE with my family in another country, or quietly at home with some of the most decadent gourmet treats we can find to be consumed on a picnic blanket in front of the fire place.

Our friends are usually somewhere in the countryside with their families. It is not such a big, public celebration here with street parties and the like.

In fact, if you do a google in French for New Years it comes up pretty much bust. Except, interstingly enough, several ads for Spicy! Do the same search in Eng. for a city as small as San Francisco and you get a serious list of your options.
