Hi - I am traveling to Paris Dec 28 - Dec 31 (leaving on the 31 for London) and I have no idea what section of Paris is best to stay in. I immediatly think of the Eiffel tower and have found hotels really close to the landmark - but is this the best area to stay for 3 days? Any suggestions of where to stay and what to do would really be appreciated. Thanks!

For only 3 days I would try to stay somewhere more central, like the 1st, 5th, 6th, 4th arrondissement. From these areas (mostly 1, 5, 6) you can walk just about anywhere in the city.
If you want a realllly central hotel which is very nice, clean, etc., try the Britannique in the 1st. You are very good walking distance to the Louvre, the Notre Dame, Ste. Chapelle, Latin Quarter, 6th arrondissement, Marais.

Hi MsWhitv,
I have stayed in the 5th, 6th, 7th and, most recently, Ile St.Louis, an island in the River Seine.
I think the 6th is the most centrally located and as close to the river as possible.
From this location, you can walk to most major attractions.

I second the above recommendation made by Les.
