I leave for Paris next week and would like some suggestions...
My mother collects dolls and I%26#39;d like to get her a small doll, preferably porcelain, from Paris for Christmas.
Any suggestions about where to go? I don%26#39;t mind spending money if the dolls are beautiful and unique.
Would a regular toy store be a good place to start?
Thanks Everyone......

go to PagesJaunes and try %26quot;poupees%26quot; or try same on google. there is a doll museum - maybe they have a gift shop.

I remember seeing a doll store (Antique?) in the 6 Er and also there was a regular doll only store in the 5 ER.
Sorry I do not remember the addresses.
There is also a Toy store in the Joffreey Passages near that Tea house La Valentin. I think I sent you the address for the tea shop.
It has two floors of toys and very cute dolls. Across from it is another store with lots unique items including dolls.

The Christmas store near the Tea Salon also has dolls to put on the Christmas trees. Some are small.
On a trip a couple of years ago, I bought a little French dressed porcelain boy and girl dolls for my Christmas Tree and I also bought a stuffed Alsacian boy and girl doll to sit under the tree.
Galleries and Printemp also have amazing toy sections in their dept store. One also has a craft section and also Bon Marche also that carries small items such as that. I would give them a try also.

Pain D%26#39;Epice (mentionned by Discover) in the Passage Jouffroy may have porcelain dolls
You can also try %26#39;Les poupees retouvees%26#39; %26#39;rue Bremontier (17th) http://www.lespoupeesretrouvees.com/
Or Poupee tendresse - Rue Poussin (16th)

How nice that your mother collects dolls! I have a gorgeous porcelain doll that I bought in Carcassonne several ago. She%26#39;s kind of big, has a lovely face, long auburn curls, and she%26#39;s wearing such a stunning dress that would make Scarlett O%26#39;Hara jealous. The truth is that I don%26#39;t collect dolls, but I couldn%26#39;t resist buying this one because of her beauty. I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll find something special for your mom in Paris, and you%26#39;ll probably have fun looking for the perfect doll.

I agree with you Shoesy...doesn%26#39;t it sound like fun wandering around Paris on a doll search? Such a girly-girl pastime...stopping for tea...maybe an eclair or two for fortification...

I also remember seeing Porcelain Dolls in a store on Rue Mufftard.

Thanks for all the great ideas! Another excuse to %26quot;wander%26quot; hee hee

Paris des Reves
Poupees de Collection in Porcelaine
open 1130 to 20h00
4, rue du Petit Pont 75005
This shop has a beautiful collection of Porcelaine dolls. All sizes.
I have bought several. The faces look like real people, the hair and details are exquisite.
Better than the one on Rue Mofftard.
The owner is very helpful. Stop by early in the week and if the collection is low, ask when the next shipment comes in.

Thanks so much parisbaby! The location looks easy to get to, so I%26#39;ll check it out!
