In response to waytogogirl%26#39;s post about questions....
Accommodation.... centreparis.com. for the apartment. Great service. Can%26#39;t recommend them enough. I had considerable discussions with David (the owner) as I had many questions about the apartment and he was very patient and kind. The apartment was small but adequate and was spotless and in an excellent location, very affordable. No security deposit required.
I also commend David for his honesty and integrity as I left some money in the apartment (in a safe place that I forgot about!) and he kindly sent it to me through Paypal.
The location was fantastic - rue d%26#39;Aboukir in the 2nd - two blocks away from the Montorgueil and a block to Strasbourg St Denis metro.
Bought phone cards for E10, to use with the house phone that was provided. We tried really hard to use that 10 euros - but still had about 6.00 left when we departed. Certainly well worth it.
One difficulty was accessing internet cafes - we had an internet connection at the apartment, but I didn%26#39;t bring my laptop - thus it was difficult to make contact with some people - the cafes weren%26#39;t open until the afternoon and we were out most of the nights - so I didn%26#39;t catch up with Alexth82 - for which I%26#39;m very sorry.....
I pre-bought my train tix to Chartres (and to Brugges and Amsterdam and Cologne). Voyages-sncf, prems. Lowest price I have found. Changed them at the station for tix - chose Gare Montparnasse as it is slightly less busy than l%26#39;Est and much less busy than Nord or Austerlitz..
Versaille - having a zone 1 - 5 carte orange gave us travel to Disney and Versaille. Went to the end of line 9 and then got the bus 171 - no extra cost. Really only need zone 1 -4 - something to remember for next time.
I didn%26#39;t pre-buy the on-off bus tour tix this time - just got on the bus and paid. Same price. Less hassle. (note 2 days is E28, 1 day is E25)
Bit of a pest about museum passes not being sold at stations (perhaps there%26#39;s a few exceptions...?) but I chose musee Picasso as it%26#39;s a bit off the beaten track and I was there at 10am - after having bought the tix, I lingered in the shop for a while - and a queue grew quite rapidly - so I%26#39;m glad I was there early.
Took 2088 photos over 3 weeks. Got 4 cds burned - cost E7.50 per cd. Well worth it.
That%26#39;s about as much as I can think of at this stage. Happy to answer any questions.
Thanks heaps to all TA people for their info provided over the years. You are all stars - and have made my holiday planning much easier..

Where did you get your photo cds burned?
And I really like the %26quot;trip report format%26quot; you have used with the day by day %26quot;experience%26quot; trip reports and the separate %26quot;nuts and bolts%26quot; post - appropriately different tones - a great format...
