Tripadvisor board members-thank you so much!

Thank you so much to everyone here on the board that help make our vacation the greatest of our lives. Without this board 90% of what we did would not have been possible. How does this board stay alive? Is it privately funded?

I sure hope this board never goes away. It is essential for all travelers.

Actaully TA was once owned by Epedia and is now a large company in its own right. As for the forum members, we are here because we are passionate about Paris, insomniacs, bored at work, trying to push our own personal agendas, or just plain crazy.

Some of us have met and actually become friends, which keeps us coming back.

According to the %26quot;about us%26quot; link at the bottom of the page, TA is %26quot;an operating company of Expedia, Inc. (Nasdaq: EXPE).%26quot; but from what you have mentioned, it is no longer owned by Expedia. Was it sold by Expedia recently (I know it is big in its own right of course but I am not up on the latest information). Was it a management buy out or something like that?

I don%26#39;t remember the history. There was an article on them in the New Yorker%26#39;s Tarvel Issue last year, but I seem to recall that Expedia had spun them off. Perhaps they have spun them back, it was never completed, or I have all the details wrong. In anycase, TA is not privately funded.

I have no information about Tripadvisor not being owned by Expedia at any time. It%26#39;s been this way for as long as I%26#39;ve been a member and that is how I know it to be until now.
