Language Suggestions

Can anyone suggest a good basic French language CD / DVD / or book? I%26#39;m going to get a phrase book but also wanted to try to learn some of the basics :o)

Probably the best, or most useful in the short term, language CD would be “Rosetta Stone” (http://www.rosettastone.com/), but the CD%26#39;s are not inexpensive. Rosetta Stone is use by business travelers, but are useful for anyone traveling abroad.

Another source is a company called Educational Services Corp (http://www.lang30.com/) which is a little more reasonably priced.

There are a number of good phrasebooks on the market, but Langenscheidt%26#39;s %26quot;Jiffy Phrasebook%26quot; series is decent and easy to carry around with you when you’re traveling

See what your local library has on it%26#39;s shelves. I dunno what it%26#39;s like in the US, but I would be really surprised if they dont have one of the book/cassette/CD sets for travellers

The BBC has some excellent online learning materials at http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/french/ , particularly French Steps if you%26#39;re a beginner and Talk French if you%26#39;re wanting to brush up quickly before a trip. Even better, they%26#39;re free!

Thank you all so much!
