You arrive at x-ray security when leaving Marseilles airport and what a surprise no line up. With no one behind you you empty your pockets as usual and wait to go thru the metal detector.
Suddenly you are asked to remove your wallet and also put it in the tray (strange no other airport has asked for this)
You stand by your belonings but they do not enter x-ray machine as you are requested to pass through detector. Even though you have been through two airports with no problem you are requested to extend arms and submit to a search. As you turn around finally you see your belongings passing through the x-ray. Strange however no one is looking at the screen. You pick up your wallet ans see some bills in it but do not take time to count them..... At departure guess what missing 500 euro. Try and find someone in French security who give a damn. This of course is helpful for anyone with a large wallet who wishes to pass something in his carry on without being checked... Airport security????

In the UK it is absolutely normal to be asked to empty your pockets, including removing the wallet. There seems to be absolutely no consistency in what upsets the dectector, even passing through the same airport in the same clothes gives different results.
I guess your French is good as you are in Montreal. Why don%26#39;t you write to the management of the airport outlining what happened? Otherwise it is liable to keep happening. There is a good deal of corruption in France but I am sure the people in charge would take action if they got a few complaints of this type.
I often fly out of Nice and find the security staff almost always efficient, charming and considerate. Nor are there the long queues that are normal at UK airports.
