Bofinger

Has anyone been to Bofinger restaurant?

Yes! :-)

We were there last Saturday night. We had reservations and it was unlikely we would have been seated without them. The restaurant was very busy at 9pm, full at 10pm. The waiters were spectacular , I have never seen such efficient service, moving at lightning speed. The coatcheck girl took our coats as we arrived and we were quickly shown our seats. The restaurant has two levels. The food was %26quot;good%26quot; and very reasonably priced, under 30 euro fixed price menu. Desserts were excellent. This was our favorite dining experience of the 10 days in Paris.

The restaurant is at the Bastille metro ( within yards ) . Bon Apetite.

I have never been, but I did send a group of 12 visiting Americans with kids and they LOVED it, LOVED it LOVED it. Even tried to go back two nights later, but no tables were avail.

They are part of the Flo Group, which has done a decent job of keeping the food edible, but a great job of restoring several historic Brasseries.

Hello,

Bofinger is one of my favorite restos. I would suggest you go hungry because they give huge portions. We have gone on mid Sundays a few times with no reservation but sometimes we have had to wait a while. It%26#39;s a great time to go with many French families having their Sunday dinners. It is an old established restaurant.

The first floor has a domed stained glass ceiling in the main dining room. They serve on cloth table clothes with a very elegant flair. All the wait staff wear black and white and cater to your every need. They race around carrying huge trays of plates..............very interesting to watch them navigate the rooms and especially run up and down the stairs. The second floor has some interesting paintings on the walls, but the first floor is more my favorite. It is not an intimate place to dine altough you might find a quiet corner. There are just two large dining rooms plus a nice bar area on the first floor.

Be sure to go to the jon. The elegance continues there.

The food has a definate German feel, with sausages, chops, lots of cabbages. There are actually two of them across the street from each other. The original and %26quot;Petite Bofinger%26quot; (also excellent). Both are on a short block just off the Bastille.

Bon appetite!

It%26#39;s pretty, good and traditional, but , since it made its way into Anglo-Saxon guide books, packed to the rafters (80 % tourists on week-ends). You would either have to book, or to come before 20h00, or after 22h30.

Actually, the brasseries are an invention from alsatian people and they cooked that kind of food, they knew from home ...

Now, in history not always, Alsace is part of France. Please don%26#39;t talk from choucrute as %26quot;german food%26quot;, when you are in France ...

This restaurant was recommended to my husband and I by our concierge and it was one of our favourite during our trip (November, 2005) - definitely call ahead for reservations (I called that morning).

Enjoy!

I have been twice, once in in a group of 10 for NYE when we sat upstairs and the other with a couple of friends when we had a table on the ground floor, which I thought was much nicer. The food and service were good both times and while it is not cheap, I thought the prices were reasonable. However, thank you Morgan, next time we plan to go we will book online!

This was my favorite restaurant when we visited last month. A friend took us there on our first day in Paris and we loved it, from the waiters who were friendly and served with flair, to the wonderful meal we had. It was the first time I had escargot, and I think it was the best of all the restaurants we visited on the trip. Thanks, Morgan for the tip...next time we will book online!
