depôt-vente in Paris

Do you know the addresses of good depôt-vente in Paris?

Thanks in advance.

define good. On the rue de la Pompe there is perhaps the largest, with a series of boutiques called Reciproque, all specializing in high end designer stuff.

On rue du Cherche Midi there is another shop that has a series of boutiques called Chercheminippes. They have household goods, designer clothing, reg. clothing, kids clothing and men%26#39;s wear. Nearby, on the rue Mayet is a place that specialize in new stuff brought in by local Japanese shop girls trying to make a dime from their store discounts. The place is small, but many of hte shoes and accessories are brand new.

There is another one on Courcelles, on the left side of the street with Monceau at your back, about two blocks up. Don%26#39;t recall the name, but they have a very large, haute couture selection. Prices are high, but fair for what you are buying.

My favorite depôt-vente is:

Les Ginettes

4 r Sabot

75006

Its small but they have good stuff. Also, their stock changes almost DAILY so you need to go back frequently as the selection changes.

The one on Courcelles is Depot-Vente du 17eme. They have a selection of men%26#39;s clothing in the sous-sol. Some great things turn up there direct from runways and fashion photo shoots, as well as from some very over-filled 16eme closets.

80% of the stuff at Reciproque comes from mistresses wishing to convert their luxury gifts into cash.

|||

One is reminded of the Hermès bags in %26quot;Le Divorce%26quot;. My question is what do French women give to their boy toys? Soon, a S.T. Dupont lighter will be pretty much useless!

For those of us uninitiated out here....what%26#39;s a depot-vente? (I%26#39;ll admit that I wasn%26#39;t hooked until Phread mentioned the mistress thing)

|||

Happy, they are consignment/second hand stores.

|||

Got it. Thx. Reciproque should have been the tip-off.

As noted, what%26#39;s your definition of %26quot;..good..%26quot; within this context ??? There are depôt-ventes (consignment shops) scattered all over Paris...one that is quite popular is L’ Annexe des Createurs---19 rue Godot de Mauroy (btwn rue de Seze %26amp; ,rue des Mathurins) 75009, Metro: Madeleine-- http://www.annexedescreateurs.com/
