My wife and I are retired and we go out for coffee every morning - I do not like European coffee. I know this is repulsive to many of you but what is the nearest coffee order to American/Canadian coffee? Are the Paris Starbucks similar to ours? I am not into the latte etc. craze - I just like a large cup of regular coffee. If desperate I will go to McD. Any suggestions are appreciated.

When I was there in Sept, my friend ordered %26quot;cafe Americaine%26quot; and she got her regular old American coffee. Just the way she liked it.

Regardless of what anyone says, it%26#39;s your trip - if you want a certain type of coffee, go get it! Starbucks (22 or so of them), McDo (billions served) or Columbus Cafe (about 6 or so of them)... Try the %26#39;cafe Americain%26#39; in a %26#39;regular%26#39; cafe - if that doesn%26#39;t suit, then go try some of the %26#39;standards%26#39;. People worry too much what others will say about small things like this.
p.s. I find the coffee served at my hotel breakfasts is usually flavorful but not too strong, and I can soften it with the hot milk to my taste.

I ran across this website in my research once:
…about.com/od/…frenchcoffee.htm
From what I make of it, the cafe Americain is like the coffee you would get in the States.
