We are a family of 3, to include my 14 yr. old son. We booked a suite in this hotel for 2 nights in Dec. Is this a good choice as far as accomodations and location.

Anyone.

Can%26#39;t comment on the specific hotel having never stayed there. Have you checked the reviews on this site?
As for the location it depends what you are looking for. You will be in the heart of the %26quot;Golden Triangle%26quot; the most expensive shopping area in Paris. Besides luxury shopping your hotel will be surrounded by high-rent offices. Not a lot of lively cafés or inexpensive restaurants in the area. Very quiet at night. A short walk to the Champs-Élysées and not far to the Arc de Triomphe and Place de la Concorde. Probably a bus or métro ride to most other places.
Not much to interest a 14 year-old IMO. The closest sight specifically aimed at younger visitors is the Palais de la Découverte.
It wouldn%26#39;t be my choice oif area to stay in Paris, but I am not you...

Thank you. I appreciate your honesty.

The accomodations look excellent and the reviews imply comfort and quiet. These are desired qualities in a hotel.
Many people favor the left bank and don%26#39;t really know much about the right bank or don%26#39;t seem to think that people live and work on the right bank too (therefore there will certainly be restaurants, shops, etc there).
Wherever you stay it will sometimes be necessary to use transportation to get somewhere else. So it is more important that the hotel you choose is comfortable and safely located (which your certainly is). From this location (8 rue Chambiges, 8th) you can walk to the Arc de Triomphe, Champs Elysees and Place de la Concorde with ease. A few more steps to the Louvre/ Tuileries. You can cross the bridge and see the Tour Eiffel, Invalides, Musee Rodin and Musee d%26#39;Orsay without too much effort, say a one-mile stroll. Of course, if it is too cold or windy, you can use the metro, bus or a taxi.
Here are some nice restaurants in your general area:

%26quot;..We had been given a recommendation for a restaurant, and were by no means disappointed. As well as a full à la carte menu, Les Bouchons de Francois Clerc, 7 rue du Boccador, offers a delightful 4-course set menu at Euro 43 (approx. £30). As expected in top quality French restaurants, not only was the food exceptional but the presentation and service were first class...%26quot;

There is a small grocer at 12 rue La Trémoille
There are several cinemas on the Champs, and you can find movies in English by noting if they are flagged as %26quot;VO%26quot; and are American releases (they%26#39;ll have French subtitles).
Please enjoy your time in Paris..!

Oh, just saw a %26quot;Lina%26#39;s Sandwiches%26quot; shop on PagesJaunes.fr... address: 7 rue de la Renaissance
... I%26#39;m going to have to agree that there aren%26#39;t very many cafes in the immediate area... names do come up on pagesjaunes, but the photos don%26#39;t look like typical cafe fronts. You%26#39;ll just have to explore a couple of blocks and see what%26#39;s around, or just go to one on the Champs (you won%26#39;t be alone).
For such a short visit, you%26#39;ll be fine.

Thank you. This did seem like a nice hotel and in the Champs De Elysees area. I had a difficult time finding a hotel to accomodate 3 people in one room. We have no problem taking transportation to where we%26#39;d like to go and don%26#39;t mind walking a block or 2 to eat.

%26gt;%26gt;%26gt; Many people favor the left bank and don%26#39;t really know much about the right bank or don%26#39;t seem to think that people live and work on the right bank too %26lt;%26lt;%26lt;
It is a simple fact that the 1st and 8th arrondissements are among the least populous in Paris both in terms of sheer numbers and of population density. Compare the ~17K people who live in the 1st or the ~30K who live in the (much larger) 8th with the ~225K who live in the 15th for example. Or consider that in terms of density there are ~40K inhabitants per square km in the 11th compared to ~10K in the 1st and 8th. Incidentally I would guess that the vast majority of the inhabitants of the 8th live north and east of the rue du Fbg. St. Honoré. The 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th lie somewhere between these extremes.
You have surely read enough of my posts by now to know that I am not a huge left bank booster and in fact greatly prefer the north side of the river for myself. Nonetheless many — not all — first-time visitors will find more of what they are looking for in Paris in the 6th or 5th arrondissements than on the right bank.
But, as i said, it all depends what you are looking for. Many people love the 1st and the 8th. Others love the 7th, another arrondissement with a rather low resident population density, which accounts for why it too is very quiet for the most part at night.
If you want to be close to the Champs-Élysées and you want a place that is quiet the rue Chambiges is an excellent choice.

Iknow - my comments are really just opinion, and I appreciate that you have some actual facts on the subject. I sometimes just tire of seeing everyone being directed to the same arrondissements . . I%26#39;ve stayed in the 12th, 7th, 15th, 17th (twice), 7th (again), 5th and 14th arr. (several times). I enjoyed every one of them. There were interesting streets, nearby cafes and good transportation in every single case. I never felt that our location was a bad choice. I really don%26#39;t think everyone can only enjoy Paris if they are in the Latin Quarter (for example).
Now the poster who wanted to know about the Suitehotel in Montreuil - I did think they would enjoy their visit better if they moved inward, and I%26#39;d say the same for staying in la Defense... but this OP%26#39;s location is nowhere near that dire, and I wouldn%26#39;t want them to think they needed to change hotels at this point. That%26#39;s really all I wanted to impart.
