We%26#39;re going to a little village near Uzes on Dec 30th till 6th Jan. We%26#39;ll be there for new year so, want to know what%26#39;s happening by way of celebrations (Nimes, Aix, Avignon?) and what%26#39;s not to be missed at that time of year. We%26#39;ve hired a car so can get to pretty much anything nearby-ish. Thanks for your tips...!

Nimes would be quite a drive--Aix and Avignon about 2 to 3 hours; so not at all nearby-ish. For that you%26#39;d want Villefranche-sur-Mer, Nice, Cannes, or Antibes. Another possibility would be Monte Carlo. All of those would be reachable by train, which on New Year%26#39;s Eve might be the best choicre.

I think you might want to ignore the last post, Catullus is having a senior moment. You have quite rightly said Uzes near Nimes and Avignon. I think Catullus has read Eze which is near to Monaco and Villefranche. Sorry I can%26#39;t answer your question but I do know where places are LOL

I have no idea why I think this, never having been there over New Year%26#39;s Eve, but my instinct suggests that Avignon *might* be the place to be — about a 35 minute drive from Uzès.
Wouldn%26#39;t a fireworks display at the Pont du Gard be spectacular though?
