October trip report

I%26#39;ll keep it brief and just mention the highlights of our 2 days/1 night stop in Paris. First of all - ouch - the dollar is very weak! However, we did manage to find some deals. We enjoyed the Hotel Chaplain Rive Gauche at 88 euros for the night. It was very well located (near Luxembourg Gardens %26amp; Montparnasse). See my review in the hotels section for more details. We had a great dinner at L%26#39;Ami Jean in the 7th for 30 euros prix fixe. It%26#39;s Basque cuisine served in a cozy atmosphere. If you have a big appetite - order the rice pudding for dessert - it%26#39;s huge (even by American standards!) We got off the metro at La Motte Picquet and walked by the Eiffel Tower on our way to the restaurant - hadn%26#39;t seen it close up at night in years, so that was fun - about a 20 minute walk.

On our return, we had a very pleasant experience at Charles de Gaulle. Since we%26#39;d heard horror stories, we got there about 2.5 hours early (after horrible traffic from Fontainebleau around the Peripherique). Got through check in and security in minutes. It can vary from day to day (and hour to hour) so it%26#39;s best to arrive early, but it may not be as bad as you imagine!

Hope this helps some future travelers. Bon voyage!

Hi Mopsy - that was about the shortest tripreport I have read !!! It almost ressembles some coded spymessage:

Dollar is no good

ricepudding is filling

Eiffel-T. looks the same as ever

Roger over and out.........

|||

Well, I hate to bore people with the fact that I went window shopping for most of the time %26amp; had a pain au chocolat for breakfast. However, I will add that there is a nice new (new to me at least) chocolate shop called Patick Roger near Odeon on St. Germain that is worth a visit if you%26#39;re a chocolate lover. Very pretty, very good chocolates and not outrageously expensive. www.patrickroger.com

Wasn%26#39;t it painful to have to leave Paris after spending only one night there?

|||

Well, yes and no - we were in France so my husband could participate in a course in a small town south of Lyon, so we couldn%26#39;t stay longer. We did enjoy our time outside of Paris as well, though.

Well, all of you guys who have electricity in your caves can plug in the T.V. and watch a soccer game.

|||

Was there any other reason for getting it?
