I have been given to understand that there are two fashion museums in Paris. One on Pierre de Serbie and one in the Louvre. Can anyone familiar with them recommend one over the other for a 16-yr old girl? Unfortunately, I don%26#39;t think we%26#39;ll have time to do both. Thanx in advance.

At the latter, there%26#39;s an exhibition on Balenciaga till Jan. 28th
Both places are interesting ...

Thanks. Actually, I%26#39;ve been to both websites. They are helpful, except that, I though that someone who had been to each museum might have an opinion on which one might be more interesting specifically to a teeneager. As far as the Balenciaga exhibit, I%26#39;m not going until February, but it sounds terrific!

I have been to both. The the Galliera is much smaller and something of a one hit wonder, so it would really depend on what is showing at the time.
UCAD at the Louvre has a larger permanent collection and is tied to the design museum, so you can see lots of great design, not just fashion. And their shop is a destination in and of itself.
For a truly unique haute couture experience you could skip both and head to the Yves Saint Laurent museum.

Phread, that YSL exhibition sounds wonderful. I just checked out the website and it looks like just the thing. And I%26#39;m sure she%26#39;s heard of YSL so it might pique her interest ahead of time too. Great, thanks. (the sound of my pen doing more scribbling, scribbling...)

The Balenciaga exhibit is great. I saw it when I was there earlier this month.
|||
I wish we could see it, Mascara. Won%26#39;t be there at the right time, but it%26#39;s the sort of thing I%26#39;d like to WOW the teenager a bit with.
|||
That all sounds great! I wish that we could check it out next month. I know that I%26#39;d enjoy it, but my 14 year old daughter isn%26#39;t a fashonista like her middle aged mother. I%26#39;ve recently wondered how I could have raised a daughter who is totally excited about seeing the catacombs and could care less about French fashion!! She%26#39;s just starting to care about what she wears. Overall I%26#39;m very glad that she isn%26#39;t consumed by what she looks like... but dang, YSL?? :)
|||
I%26#39;m thinking (hopefully correctly) that any teenage girl would be excited to see haute couture. It%26#39;s just such over-the-top fashion. So even if one of your daughters isn%26#39;t %26quot;into%26quot; fashion, maybe it would still hold her interest??
|||
Yeah, but my other 2 teens are boys, so that combined with my daughter%26#39;s lack of interest would probably mean me going alone. So perhaps I%26#39;ll save it for the next trip (there MUST be more trips!!)
Please be sure to give a detailed Trip Report...

If I was any more technologically adept, I might take pictures and post them for you. Alas...it is beyond my capabilites even on my best day...
