IV been looking at a short break to paris over the new year period as a surprise for my girlfriend. Departing on the 29th of December 06 and returning sometime on New Years Day. So i would need 3 nights stay in a hotel. I know she has always wanted to go to Disneyland so id like to take her there and do quite a bit of sight seeing such as the eifell tower and shopping on the high street. Could anyone tell me of the best places to stay on a relatively low budget, something like a 2 star or 3 star but which is a nice hotel
Look forward to any comments i hope i receive
many Thanks
Marc

Try Gold Crest Coach holidays, they pick up all over Britain and are offering 3 night New Year Break to Paris including 1 day in Disneyland for around £150 each, basic hotel and continental breakfast included-I don%26#39;t think this price will be beaten. Haven%26#39;t tried it myself yet but have booked for this year hoping to see the fireworks over the Eifell Tower, which they take you to and pick you up from on New Years Eve. Good luck searching and Happy New Year.

ok, this is weird.
All the locals are saying there are no fireworks planned for this year at the Eiffel Tower. Yet this bus trip says they will take you to see them?
How do we verify for sure?

Just booked with Gold crest 169 per person including new years eve in Paris. Thank you very much. Maybe we%26#39;ll see you in Paris
Thankyou

jane, I have no knowledge of planned fireworks and they have not had them regularly before or since the 2000 celebrations. Kasthor works in teh tourism industry and he is pretty confident that they won%26#39;t be having them again this year. They are not mentioned on the official paris tourisme site, or the Eiffel Tower site.
In addition, the bus company does not actually mention them for NYE, but after discussing the Disney visit. Could they be refering to the Disney fireworks?
You can go to the official paris tourism site and contact them directly to confirm. They have a contact us link.

Phread,
I%26#39;ve not been able to find anything online regarding fireworks either.
I%26#39;m more inclined to believe you %26#39;locals%26#39; than a tour %26#39;blurb%26#39;, but now picture a bus full of really disappointed people, sitting there at midnight and nothing happens.
We booked the Cafe d%26#39;Homme (thanks to you) and will leave the restaurant about 11.30 just to mingle and slowly walk home to the Beaubourg. So if they happen we%26#39;ll be there and if not, well we weren%26#39;t expecting them and won%26#39;t be disappointed.

I hope there will be fireworks this NYE. We were there in 2004 and they had the fireworks display from the Pl. de la Concorde/Tuileries area which we saw well from Pl. du Parvis at Notre Dame.
