Paris restaurants and bars for New Year's Eve 2006

I am taking my boyfriend to Paris for his birthday and New Year%26#39;s Eve. Could anyone reccomend any nice restaurants near the Champs Elysees please (that are not too pricey as I%26#39;m paying for the trip)?! And do you know of any good Irish/English bars near the Champs Elysees?

For an Irish pub, there may be some closer to the Champs Elysees but here are two.

I have walked past but not been in Kitty O%26#39;Shea%26#39;s at 10 rue des Capuccines quite close to the place de la Concorde which is at the bottom of the Champs Elysees. I thought it looked very kitsch. According to www8.Mappy.com it is 920 m from Concorde (from which you can definitely see the top 1/2 of the Eiffel Tower).

I liked the Flann O%26#39;Brien at 6 rue Bailleul near the Louvre in the 1st. According to mappy it is only 1 km from Concorde so of the two it would win hands down for me. I went there with my nephew for NYE about 10 years ago (lots can happen in that time of course) and we had a great time. We sat at a big square table that seated at least 10 or 12 people squashed in and the other people who sat at the table, who were there in groups of 2 or 3, were from all over the English speaking world and some locals who were their friends. Like my nephew, many were desperate to be able to have a conversation in English on NYE after staying a while in France. We had a great time, made friends for the evening and the staff were very friendly.
