PLEASE follow-up after returning from your trip !!!!!!

I notice often that many people use this board to post questions about hotels or apts. or have other questions and receive a lot of wonderful help from our experts and others. However, when they return from their trip, they basically forget about the destination they just visited and following up and move on to their next destination or just don%26#39;t come back to TA at all. Personally I feel it is a responsibility to come back and comment and give feed-back as this is basically paying back for the experienced advice they received (as this in return helps others).

I notice for example there is one apt. rental agency that has very little feedback and is constantly being asked about. I tracked down a person who asked about and eventually rented from them, but now they are posting on a different country all together. They came back home and never responded to their old thread which would be so helpful to others to know their experience with this company!!

Please remember that by answering your own questions (following up) on your return you are helping so many others !!

Good point. You must be so excited about your trip. Have a great time. BTW, my son will be attending a baseball game on Wednesday - the Braves against the Mets. I hope the Braves win because as an ex-New Yorker I%26#39;m a Yankees fan.

You are so right. I have gotten so much great advice from this forum and I feel it is my responsibility to give back as much as I can. While I%26#39;m not into writting trip reports I enjoy reading them and if someone has a question that I know the answer to I get quite excited.

As I had such bad luck with Paris Shuttel, I am now contemplating taking the RER nex time. I would never have gotten up the nerve to do that were it not for all of you.

I agree wholeheartedly with WTGG and plan on writing a detailed trip report when I return. That%26#39;s part of the fun for me!

Okay...I%26#39;m chastised. Here are some things I learned from TA and used and would absolutely recommend: Forget shuttles. Take a taxi parisien from the airport. Easy, no-stress. Having said that, we couldn%26#39;t figure out why, on the way from the airport to the apartment on Sunday morning with absolutely no traffic, it cost us 63 euros and, on the way back in to the airport in bumper to bumper traffic almost the whole way, it only cost us 44 euros. Hmmmmm. But it was definitely dependable and I%26#39;d do it again. I would highly recommend Vacationsinparis.com to rent an apartment. It%26#39;s so nice coming back to a kitchen, sofa and chairs etc when you want to relax before going out for dinner etc. I would NOT buy the Visite pass prior to leaving home again. We figured out that you%26#39;d have to travel on the Metro at least 12 times per day to make it less expensive than buying a carnet or a 5-day pass when you get there. Even though I had read all you experts out there saying this, I figured I%26#39;d avoid the hassle and just have it when we got there. Well, we did have it, but it just would not have been any hassle at all to buy it when we got there. Live and learn. I also learned that, not being a museum person, I am INCREDIBLY glad my friend made me go to the d%26#39;Orsay and see the impressionists. It was wonderful. I also re-learned that if you want to eat at nice restaurants, and I don%26#39;t mean restaurants that have even one star here, just a nice restaurant, it is costly. BUT SO WORTH IT! The food is just to die for. And do not scrimp on the shoes you buy to wear there. Someone on this forum said it best not too long ago: Even in the best shoes in the world, you walk SO much in Paris that your feet are going to be tired and a sore. Maybe a little sore but even so. Buy good shoes and break them in before you go. And one last thing for anyone going to Paris for the first time: Please Please Please don%26#39;t believe anyone who tells you the Parisians are rude. They are the nicest people. Just learn some local manners before you go. Yo don%26#39;t need to be Emily Post, just read this forum and you and pay a little attention and you will be fine. You will also have a wonderful time!

|||

waytogogirl: And we will hold you to it !!! I will so much on the look-out for your %26quot;Granny Goes to Paris%26quot; report !!

Have a wonderful trip !!

I promise to post a few highlights from my trip with my Senior Ladies in the last week of Oct. - my biggest concern is to loose one of them in Versailles or Galeries Lafayette ! So they have strict orders to have their mobilephones switched on at all times, as they do not speak a word of French and only two words of English !

|||

Thanks Gittek, you can count on me ! You will have your ladies in Paris the same time as I will have momma and grandma ? I should have a get-together for all these hens, non ?

Thanks happygoin and others for your comments. I surely don%26#39;t expect everyone has the time or the desire to write a lengthy report on return. But when one starts a post such as %26quot; I have never stayed at hotel/apt X, but I just reserved, any comments ?%26quot; It would be great to respond to that thread on return. I just discovered in some cases like the one I mentioned above there is very little info on the forum regarding the said apt. and it is such a shame.

Giving back to TA can just take a few minutes ! One tip, it is a good idea to save your thread in %26quot;favorites%26quot;%26quot;so you can find it when you return !!

Waytogogirl-

Hope your trip is wonderful! I%26#39;m jealous of your long stay. I love reading trip reports, but don%26#39;t always post my own. Thanks for the encouragement. I often wonder whether people who%26#39;ve posted actually visit the shops, etc., that are recommended.

Shoesy-

We have tickets to the Braves on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Mr. Aude thought the Braves might be in a race for the playoffs so he loaded up on seats this week, and alas, they%26#39;re out of it. Hope Shoesy Jr. has a great time at Turner Field.

|||

Thanks, Aude. He really likes baseball - something he learned from his late grandpa. I%26#39;m glad he has the opportunity to attend a game, which is kind of a compensation for missing Rosh Ha-Shana here with the family.

I was the one outed by Way to... and I have now posted a report. In my defence I have responded to other Paris, Bali and Bangkok queries before and since my return but did not even THINK of doing a report on Paristay as the thread on it grew after I%26#39;d booked and I didn%26#39;t realise there were others interested. So I do appreciate the reminder. I did do a report on an August 06 visit to Bali, and got not one comment, unlike the reports of others, so assumed no one was reading it.

Hi WTG Girl, hear hear. Even if you dont have time to give a really full report, it is great to hear feedback on hotels etc

The last poster, sorry but I forgot your name and cannot check it during a reply, do please post about your experiences. I love reading trip reports, even if they are brief.
