Am going to paris next week and was thinking of buying some alcohol for over the christmas, is there anything in particular that would be of good value and worth while? Thanks C

Cognac, armagnac, calvados, eau de vie (clear liquor made from different fruits, e.g. raspberries/framboises).
Hop into any Nicolas wineshop - or other wineshop, of course. The price-quality relation would we straightforward, in my opinion.
Just remember that you will not be allowed to take it back in your carry-on in the airplane. The bottles have to be packed in your check-in baggage, so there is a risk that they can be smashed up, unless really carefully wrapped.

If you;d like to try before you buy, head over to Ryst Dupeyron on the rue du Bac. They are specialists in Armagnac and take great pleasure in spreading their gospel. They also carry some most excellent bordeaux, champagnes and eaux de vies.
The place looks old (it is) and expensive, but they usually recommend reasonably affordable drinks to newbies, so don%26#39;t let that put you off.

Carol,
Generally spirits are cheaper in France than in ireland as tax is lower though not as low as spain. If you like anything in particular, and it looks good value then go for it, bearing in mind that a bottle of wine or spirits is approx 1kg weight wise.
I noticed your name on Fiji posts. We will be in Fiji on our honeymoon (Paris is our first stop) and are staying in Musket Cove, which I think is the same island as Plantation. Any tips?
Hope you enjoy Paris. See Phread%26#39;s tips on another post about decadent hot chocolate and hot wine. For dinner try Le Vaudeville or Brasserie Flo. Good food and great value compared to similar food in Dublin.

Hi
Thanks a million for all your replys, Honeymooners, yea i was in fiji last year we stopped for 7 nights on our way back from australia, it was also our honeymoon. We stayed in the sheraton for 3 nights and on plantation island for 4. It was amazing, the sandy beach, the water, everything was just fab. We stayed in a Bure on plantation, which was really nice. The people are so friendly, they couldn%26#39;t do enough for you. Musket Cove i think were opposite where we were staying we went over there by canoe but didn%26#39;t actually go in. There is no tips i can really give you as such as there is not very much to do (only watersports), it is a honeymooners paradise. Enjoy!

Hi All, are there plenty of places to buy alcohol in Paris. (I mean off licences). I am off to Paris in two weeks and have the romantic idea about drinking red wine and baguettes on the very cold balcony of my hotel without paying hotel prices!! Thanks C
