Purchasing Longchamp bags in Paris???

Seeing as Longchamp%26#39;s flagship store is in Paris, I figure I would ask the question here. If I were to purchase a bag in Paris, would it be cheaper than if I were to purchase it in the US? Longchamp is a French brand so I assume it would be cheaper throughout Europe to purchase these handbags. Is this correct? Thanks!

Longchamp can be cheaper if you get the VAT refund which is around 12ish percent. It really depends on the exchange rate. So do your homework and price the bag(s) at home that you want and then compare when you get to Paris.

I%26#39;ve gotten them there at the airport duty free shop and they have been less expensive than here in NYC. Though given the exchange rate less so the last one in September!

Thanks for your help! I noticed on my way to Cusco in June that the JFK Longchamp store had very good deals.

oh believe me, it is definitely cheaper to buy in paris, with the exchange rate!! i bought 2 bags on my recent trip, both were 60 euros each i believe. came out to around 76 american. Anyways, the same bag listed here in NYC was like 115-125. So yes, definitely buy it there!!!

If you are in town during the SOldes, they are one of the popular brands that have tons on sale.

To bring the price down even more, If you buy at Galeries Lafayette, you can use the 10% off coupon they offer to tourists (you show your passport at the tourist desk to get the coupon.) They have a good selection of Lonchamp bags, though nothing like the enormous selection at the Longchamp store. i%26#39;ve gotten good deals at the Galeries Lafayette boutique at CDG, but the selection is much more limited. My experience is that the bags are somewhat cheaper in France, but the savings is not huge.

I bought a Herves Chapelier bag while in Paris last month (mostly because I ran out of room in my suitcase and needed to expand). I priced it afterwards and, indeed, I did save money on it even with the exchange rate.

Aude,

Did GL let you use the 10 percent off coupon at Longchamp? I always thought the designer brands were %26quot;red%26quot; areas where the card was not accepted? I did use my 10% off card for two cashmere sweaters for xmas gifts at GL. The quality is really nice and with the tax refund and the 10% off it really helped!
