I am attempting to plan a family trip to Europe. ---We will be using Eurail. Our first week will be spent in Paris, 2nd week in Rome, then, we need to make our way to Amsterdam (flying to USA from Amsterdam). After our Rome visit, we need to take a train from Rome--through Paris--to Amsterdam. ---When I look at train schdules from Rome to Paris. The schdules indicate trains that start from Rome%26#39;s %26quot;Roma Termini%26quot; and end in Paris%26#39; %26quot;Paris Bercy.%26quot; When I look at schedules from Paris to Amsterdam, train schdules indicate a train trip starting from %26quot;Paris Nord%26quot; and ending in Amsterdam. ---When I look at city maps of Paris, that have the locations of various train stations marked, I can easily find %26quot;Gare Nord,%26quot; %26quot;Gare de Lyon,%26quot; etc. However, I can not find %26quot;Paris Bercy%26quot; or %26quot;Gare Bercy%26quot;?? (1) Please help me locate this train station, and (2) please tell me how my family should get from %26quot;Paris Bercy%26quot; to %26quot;Gare Nord.%26quot; Do we need to take the Metro between these two stations-- or can my family get off the train arriving at %26quot;Paris Bery%26quot; (from Rome) and get on another train (in the %26quot;Paris Bercy%26quot; station) that travels to Amsterdam? --Any help would be appreciated. ---Jim.

Metromap on www.ratp.fr...
There is only a metrostop Paris-Bercy, international trains don%26#39;t stop there ... The closest trainstations to Bercy are Gare du Lyon and Austerlitz ...

I searched on www.sncf.fr and got the same information: Trains from Rome arriving in Paris-Bercy!
Maybe there%26#39;s an expert for this in this forum, who can explain this ... :-) have some patience ...

The Tourist Office also has some basic information:
parisinfo.com/rub6206.html%26id_article=6736
... and this site is a great rail info read, but also has good details about Gare de Bercy:

Night trains to and from Itly arrive at Paris Bercy which is close to gare de Lyon.
No, you cannot take a train from Italy at any hour of the day or night and then take a train from the same station to Amsterdam. Day trains from Rome will arrive — after at least one change — at Gare de Lyon. Trains to Amsterdam depart from Gare du Nord.
May one ask why you are beginning your trip in Paris? it would make much more sense to visit Rome first, then Paris, would it not? If you travel by train you will have wasted 14 hours back-tracking to Paris.
In any case it would save a LOT of time and stress — and probably money — to travel for most, possibly all of your trip on Europe%26#39;s network of budget airlines rather than by train.
Air Berlin flies between CDG and Rome FCO. EasyJet flies between Orly (ORY) and Rome CIA. TransAvia flies between FCO and Rotterdam (RTM). I am not sdeeing any budget airlines operating between Rome and Amsterdam.
There are trains from CDG to A%26#39;dam, probably with a change in Brussels. The trip takes about four hours. If you research RT fares from Paris to Rome even on the major airlines - Air France or Alitalia — you will probably find them cheaper than the railpass option and certainly a lot quicker.
You may even find it not terribly expensive to fly to Rome with Air France and then to Amsterdam with KLM if you are for some reason nervous about the other airlines I have mentioned — which you should not be.
One caveat: Baggage allowances on flights within Europe are more restrictive than what we are accustomed to in N. America, but for the most part they are more than adequate if you have learned the importance of packing light. But check the airlines%26#39; web sites for their restrictions.
Good luck!

I can%26#39;t say I know the station, but I looked it up: the train station Paris Bercy is in the 12th arrondissement, very close (more or less nextdoor) to the Gare de Lyon. %26quot;Bercy%26quot; is the closest metro stop (lines 6 and 14), The rue Corbineau runs in front of the station.
On older maps, the station is marked %26quot;gare aux marchandises%26quot;, which probably means that it used to be a freight train station; it seems that nowadays, the station is used for car trains (probably has special ramps to drive cars on/off the train).
You can use www.mappy.fr to look it up.
The connection to the Gare du Nord is not very easy - one option is to take the metro (line 14 in direction Saint-Lazare) to Gare de Lyon, and then switch there to RER line D (direction Orry-la-Ville-Coye). Gare du Nord is the second stop.

Exactly. Besides the now very odd car trains, Bercy is also used for night trains to Italy and a handlful af trains to Auxerre.
It is a very basic station, with very few amenities.

Paris Bercy train station was very difficult to find on a map. We stayed at Royal Regency in Vincennes and called for a taxi. It was the easiest way of getting there and cost only 30 euros for 4 people and all of our luggage. I will warn you as I was warned on the trip advisor prior to our trip that the train ride is not very pleasant. If you like to feel like you are being buried alive, like having no privacy and enjoy filthy bathrooms the journey on the Artesia train is right for you. Please allow yourself extra time as our train was two hours late getting to Rome with no explanations and it was difficult to determine where we were at times unless we were parked at a train station and could see the name of the station from our window. Air flow was non-existant when the door were closed and all of your luggage had to be stored in your couchette. We paid a bit more to have only 4 people in our couchette. We were traveling with friends but if we had not done this we would have been sleeping with 2 complete strangers and believe me the room allowed in this cabin is very intimate. We were on the train from Paris to Rome this month from November 20November 3. All I can say is good luck because you will need it. Also they will gather your passport and you will not see it until 2 hours prior to getting to your destination.

Totally illogical thing to do. One way flights between those cities will cost about $50 if bought far enough in advance.
