going from Beaune to Rome

We have a wine tour,Discovery, in Beaune and then want to make our way to Rome the to Milan where we will depart. We have 7 days to do this. What are recommendations on best way to travel and what is a definite must see/do.

Given the high drop off penalties if you rent a car in one country and leave it in another, I would recommend you take either the train or the plane:

- train: go to Dijon, take a TGV to Lausanne; from there on, ongoing trains to Milan and Rome. Plenty of opportunities to stop en route in world famous sites (but remember: you only have 7 days! ). Rome to Milan is a 4 1/2 hour train journey; Beaune to Rome 15 hours.

- plane: easyJet flies to Rome ex Lyon (1h30 by train from Beaune) from €25 all included starting Feb 16, ex Paris Orly (2h30 by train Beaune to Paris gare de Lyon) from €36 all included. Given the short time you have, the plane option might be worth considering, otherwise you are going to spend plenty of time on trains, not much on sightseeing. Rome is about 1,000 km from Beaune, and you have to cross the Alps.

It is not clear either whether your %26quot;wine tour%26quot; will have made you visit Dijon, Lyon, Paris. You could take the opportunity to visit one or more of these cities en route from Beaune to Rome.
