hotel choice

Hello Again:

It is my first time ever posting questions on a site but thought I might be able to use all the expert advise out there. Would you suggest staying in the Latin quater at Hotel St Jacques or at hotel Muguet in the 7th

Thank you for advice

Either is a good choice although I find the 7th too quiet and this is a personal opinion only and the decision depends on what type of atmosphere you like. Some people find the 7th to be a good choice if they do not care for crowds. The 5th/Latin Quarter typically attracts students and it is a very busy area, but you%26#39;ll have access to many eateries and sights. It%26#39;s not my favorite area-I prefer the Ile St. Louis nowadays-but if I were to choose staying between the 5th and 7th I%26#39;d choose the St. Jacques in the 5th.

As noted, either hotel is a fine choice. Both the Muguet and Saint Jacques have recently undergone extensive renovation....so qualities and amenities will be similar. As also noted, the 7eme will be a much more sedate neighborhood--more residential, institutional and commercial (with the exception of the rue Cler market-street %26#39;enclave%26#39;)--especially in the evenings. It%26#39;s no accident that the busiest spot in the 7eme--Invalides / Ecole Militaire / Eifel Tower in the evenings is the Ecole Militaire Metro station, filled with people either leaving for or returning from %26#39;...somewhere else..%26#39; in Paris. But, the Eiffel Tower will be within easy strolling / walking distance and some of the upper Superior rooms at the Muguet have views of the Tower. There are also a few good restaurants in the immediate neighborhood.

The neighborhood(s) of the 5eme--Latyin Quarter will be livelier both day and night...and will be within more convenient walking / strolling distances of more of the major sites and attractions...with excellent Metro and bus connections to everywhere else in Paris. The different neighborhoods of the 4eme--Îles / lower-Marais, 5eme-Latin Quarter, 6eme--Saint Germain des Prés and 1st--Louvre-Tuileries seem to %26#39;..flow..%26#39; together seamlessly along this stretch of the Seine. There are a few good daily street markets in the area, good restaurants and interesting shops as you stroll.

There are those who wouldn%26#39;t stay anywhere in Paris but the 7eme...with many feeling it has a %26#39;..homier..%26#39; more %26#39;..resident Parisian..%26#39; feel. I%26#39;ve never gotten it (but then who am I to judge what others prefer?). For ourselves, we prefer the neighborhood of the 6eme and 5eme a bit farther east for convenience and more %26#39;..interest..%26#39;.

But neighborhoods aside, for Parisian 2-star hotels, you can%26#39;t go far wrong with either the Muguet or Saint Jacques.

Hello:

We will be arriving in Paris in the afternoon of Christmas Eve, what are the suggestions for Christmas Day in Paris. It will be our first, we are a family of four adults, all very excited about the prospect. If we wanted to go the the eiffel tower on Christmas eve will it be too busy and too long a wait? Would we need a reservation at the restaurant and what is the name of the restaurant for making one.?

thank you
