transportation to tourtour

I will be visiting the southern part of France next Sept. One of the places I really want to experience is Tourtour...Has anyone been there and is there transportation other than auto. I will be travelling from Collioure by train...Would greatly appreciate any info...Loretta

Hi Loretta — and welcome!

Do you mean the Tourtour NW of Draguignan? If so, it%26#39;s a very long way (maybe 500km?) from Collioure and not very close to Arles (perhaps 200km?).

The closest station to Tourtour is Les Arcs-Draguignan, about 35km away. At best it would take you about 6 hours to make the trip that far. It *might* be possible to get to Tourtour by bus from Les Arcs, but bus service will be very infrequent. I%26#39;m not even sure you could do it by bus. Draguignan would be easy enough but you%26#39;d still be the better part of 20 km from Tourtour. I suppose you *could* take a taxi, but...

Forgive my curiosity, but what was it about Tourtour you were so interested in experiencing?

It is possible that you actually have some totally different place in mind, though I don%26#39;t know where if so....

For one thing, Tourtour (the Bastide de) was in the first, and best, film of %26quot;Day of the Jackel.%26quot; But it%26#39;s definitely a long, long way from Collioure.

The Tourtour I am refering to has been considered one of the most beautifull villages in France...As far as I know there is only one village by that name...Appreciate the information,will have to save that one for another visit....Any experiences in Collioure ?? St. Remy-de-Provence ???
