Laduree question...

do all macaroons have coconut in them? the ones at Laduree look wonderful. but ive got a coconut allergy that will make me swell up like a balloon (or close my throat...depending on the amount of coconut). i would love to try them, but obviously not at the expense of my health. haha. thanks!

Don%26#39;t worry, macarons are not made with coconut but with almonds so you shouldn%26#39;t have a problem. If you%26#39;re in doubt, go to Ladurée or Pierre Hermé where you%26#39;ll be sure the original recipe is used.

Bon appétit!

These are %26quot;macarons%26quot;, not %26quot;macaroons%26quot;. They have nothing but sugar, egg whites, almond flour, and flavorings and are somewhat similar to meringues. They are sandwiched together with variously flavored fillings. No coconut in sight!

Maybe you%26#39;ll feel better asking this %26quot;y a-t-il de la noix de coco dans les macarons?( is there coconut in the macaroons?)

[ pronounced %26quot;ee ya tiill dai la noaw de coco dan lai macaron]

Brave try at attempting a phonetic version of your sentence, but...

This site will give a pretty close approximation for the pronunciation of any phrase or sentence in French (assuming you select the right voice of course). It doesn%26#39;t do so well with single words.

Some are made of almond flour and some are made with hazelnut flour ( both ground nuts made in to a powder paste).

I would ask for sure if they have any coconut in the icing that glued them together. The other poster so wonderfully gave you the French wording to write or try to say! I would not take a chance with your allergy problem.

I just re-read my post......... I meant I would not take the chance%26quot; of not asking if they have any coconut in the fillings.

|||

Once and for all, French macarons DO NOT have coconut in them, unless they are coconut macarons! Relax and don%26#39;t worry about the macarons.

%26quot;French macarons DO NOT have coconut in them%26quot;.......

When we went to St. Emillion last summer they made the regular French Macaron cookies with the usually gound almond and/or ground Hazel nut flours as has been stated but......... the icing between the 2 white cookies had not only coconut flavoring but also they had specks of real coconut.

I do not know if Laudree makes they that way also...... but if this person has an allergy they should ask the bakery they buy them from.

I would hate to see someone post back that on your sole advice they did not and had a medical emergency.
