Paris Dec. 27 - 31, 2006

Our trip to Paris to celebrate 50 years of marriage. Any hints on best Christmas lighting, sights and things to do? Ballet or concert tickets at redced prices? Any help would be appreciated.

There are two %26#39;half-off%26#39; kiosks, one is around Gare Montparnasse.. just %26#39;google%26#39; for %26quot;paris half-off kiosk%26quot;...

You can review all the possible shows using the %26quot;spectacles%26quot; list on www.FNAC.com (and order tickets to be picked up at one of their offices)

The main Christmas lighting that I can think of is the exterior of Galeries Lafayette.

For starters, you can check the main Paris Tourism web site for some of %26quot;..What%26#39;s On..%26#39; in Paris during your visit...to see if anything atttracts your interests. Many Paris churches schedule special free musical concerts around the holidays and these are often quite extraordinary.

There are no 1/2-priced tickets for ballet and opera performances at the Opera Garnier or Opera Bastile, though you might be able to purchase same-day,reduced price tickets at the box offices--

OPÉRA NATIONAL de PARIS--

There will be ballet performances of the classic %26#39;..GISELLE..%26#39; on at the OPÉRA GARNIER during your intended dates that should be WONDERFUL...and worth every last centime of full price...if there are any tickets left to be had. It%26#39;s worth the price, just to sit in this magnificent theater and listen to the music alone.

As noted, you may be able to purchase concert tickets through the FNtCA--http://www.fnacspectacles.com/?fc=cf%26amp;RNID=-7%26amp;bl=HGACong11%26amp;NID=-7%26amp;CurArea=

If you haven%26#39;t been on skates in a while, there is a free skating ice skating rink set up out in front of the Hôtel de Ville that might be fun...or perhaps just sitting on a comfortable café chair, with something warm to drink, watching the skating might be easier on your egos....and backsides.

HÔTEL de VILLE--

Recently, someone kindly posted this listing of where Christmas decorations %26amp; displays may be found in Paris this season--

http://www.parlerparis.com./

But for Christmas decoration %26amp; display, you can go far wrong by heading for the Champs Élysée (start up at Arc de Triomphe--it trends downhill from there.....or up on Blvd. Haussmann, around the Galeries Lafayette and Printemps %26#39;grand magazins%26#39;.
