Travel to Bourg-St-Maurice - Jan 2007

Hi, Please can someone assist with travel suggestions to Bourg-St-Maurice.

We are arriving in Geneva on 20 Jan 2007 at 09h00 and need to travel to Arc Altitude (Club Med resort) near Bourg-St-Maurice. Please can someone advise on trains and estimate costs. I am looking for the cheapest options. I would really appreciate any tips in this regard.

Many thanks

Nicola

check out the altibus www.altibus.com. the website takes a little bit of working out but I use this bus pretty much every year to travel to La Rosiere (near Bourg). It%26#39;s a pretty good service but you have to read the timetables carefully - buses only go on certain days. But they stop right outside the airport and take around 2.5 - 3 hours to Bourg. I don%26#39;t know the resort you mention but you could take the bus to Bourg and organise a taxi.

Hi SA Skier,

We%26#39;ve been to Bourg a few times now and love it. We%26#39;ve come from Geneva once in 1997, so I%26#39;m not sure if I can totally help. Bourg St Maurice is the last train stop. So it would be worth seeing if you can get a train and then a taxi up to the resort.

What I do remember of our trip the train was clean and quick, however, we waited 2.5 hours for a train to Aux Bain and then there was no connecting train to Bourg (even though it was marked on the timetable). We eventually were instructed to get on this other train (which we were at the mercy of the instructor), which did get us there eventually but was incredibly crowded.

On the way back to Geneva we caught a train to Chambery and then waited 3 hours for a train to Geneva. If the connections have improved I would recommend it. We are pretty much budget travellers, so this would have been the cheapest option back then.

Les Arcs in our favourite ski resort in the world - it is sooooo huge and the snow has always been reliable. Enjoy!
