Paris tickets

Hi all,

I am travelling to Paris on Sun 17/12/06 returning 26/12/06 with my girlfriend. We intend travelling around Paris, to Eurodisney for a day (Monday 18), to Versailles (Tuesday 19) and to and from the CDG airport. Could you suggest the most suitable tickets for our case?

Thanks for your help! I have allready checked the search option, i have found many things till now but i must confess i am a little bit confused! As i%26#39;ve posted, we arrive on Sunday on CDG and i am trying to find the best way to go to our hotel, Porte Doree. I believe we should also buy a %26quot;Card Orange%26quot; 1-4 zone pass that is valid from Monday to Sunday, since we plan to visit Eurodisney and Versailles also. What do you think of that?

|||

You will need a Zone 1-5 Carte Orange. Marne-la-Vallée is in Zone 5. Versailles is in Zone 4. 31€50

You should also buy a Carnet of tickets (10€90) for your travel inside Paris on your first day and your last two days. Buy more as needed. Assuming you intend to take the RER/métro to your hotel you will need to buy the tickets for those trips separately, 16€20 round trip. You can (and should) purchase all these passes and tickets when you arrive at CDG, and you can use either a credit card or cash for payment.

Have a great trip! Kala Xristougenna!

My recommendation would be to purchase a Carte Orange (you will need 1x1 photos) for Zones 1%26amp;2, which would be valid for the Monday through Sunday of your visit. Then, purchase a carnet for the days not covered by Carte Orange, and separate tickets for trips beyond Zones 1 %26amp; 2.

The Zone 1-5 CO will be lesss expensive and more convenient than a Zone 1-2 CO plus separate tickets for Versailles and M-la-V.

Your intended itinerary carries you over the into different transportation pass terms--from SUNDAY, 17th (day of arrival), through a full week, to the following TUESDAY, 26th (day of departure. So you will need a %26#39;..combination..%26#39; of transportation pass and tickets.

Assuming that your preference is for public transportation for your airport transfer (RER %26#39;B%26#39; ligne-ROISSYRAIL-train--8,10€, ROISSYBUS--8,50€ , Les CARS AIR FRANCE bus--13€) on your Sunday, day of arrival. You would need to purchase separate tickets for the one which best suits you final destination address in Paris. Then for your the remainder of your first day (Sunday) purchase a CARNET (booklet of 10 reduced price tickets--10,90€) If you have any tickets left over from the CARNET from your initial Sunday (day of arrival) they will still be good for the final Monday and Tuesday (day of departure) of your visit.

Les CARS AIR FRANCE--

For the full week in-between, including a day-trip out to DisneyLandParis (Zone 5) and Versailles (Zone 4) you should purchase a weekly CARTE ORANGE Zone 1-5 transportation pass (31,50 €). This will cover ALL of your public transportation (RER, Metro, bus, tram, Funicular, NightBus) requirements during this week. The CARTE ORANGE is valid from FIRST TRAIN on Monday AM until LAST TRAIN on Sunday PM). As has been noted, this pass requires that you provide a %26#39;..head-shot..%26#39; photo (approx 1 1/4%26quot; x 1 1/4%26quot; of any type) to fit onto the available space on the photo-ID card portion of the CO. Don%26#39;t wait to get to Paris to take these photos. Carry them with you from home. Finding a working photo-booth in Paris can be an aggravating and time consuming challenge.

The CARTE ORANGE transportation pass come in two(2) parts--a coupon / ticket that you insert into and then REMEMBER to RETRIEVE from Metro %26amp; RER turnstiles....and the photo-ID card that you simply display to the driver when you board a bus. ***DO NOT***DO NOT***DO NOT*** insert the CO coupon/ticket into the maching on public buses. If you do, the machine will IN-validate the ticket and it will no longer be of any use for Metro or RER useage.

For your final Monday and Tuesday (day of departure) use and left-over tickets and purchase additional CARNET(s) of tickets for your transportation needs and separate airport transfer tickets for your departure. An alternative would be to purchase a one-day MOBILIS Zone 1-2 pass (5,50€) for your final Monday. Just in case you%26#39;re wondering why the MOBILIS pass would work for your initial Sunday (day of arrival and final Tuesday (day of departure)...Airport transfer useage are specifically EXCLUDED from MOBILIS pass useage.

KDKSAIL , i %26#39;m sure a lot of TA members would feel grateful for your last post , including me!Thanks!

Just a few quick questions please :

1.Where can i apply at CDG for a carte orange?Is there o form that i can download from home ?

2.Navigo is the new type of carte orange OR is just for Paris residents?

3.How much does a single ticket to zone 5 it cost? (ex .Marnee la Valle ).

I ll be in Paris from Tuesday 26 to Sunday 31 and i believe Carte Orange suits my needs too.

DuckWorld, sorry for ruing your post.

1. No form needed. Just go to the RATP ticket desk at CDG with your photo(s) in hand and ask for a CO for Zones 1-5.

2. Navigo is basically just for Paris residents.

3. Varies but to M-la-V it is 12€50 round-trip. (A Zone 1-5 Mobilis pass costs 12€30.)

%26gt;%26gt;%26gt; I ll be in Paris from Tuesday 26 to Sunday 31 and i believe Carte Orange suits my needs too. %26lt;%26lt;%26lt;

Probably. A Zone 1-5 CO will cover your travel between the airport and Paris by RATP and to/from M-la-V as well as all your travel within Paris.

IrishRovr, thanks a lot for your quick answer!

I m sure my travel report from Paris will be full of smiles thanks to you guys...

The weekly (hebdo) CARTE ORANGE transportation pass should suit your needs right down to your socks. The only question you need to answer is will you need one valid for Zones 1-2 ? (16 €)...or for Zones 1-5 ? (31,50 €)

If you plan on using the RER %26#39;B%26#39; train--ROISSYRAIL--train as your mode of airport transfer between CDG and Paris...and daytrips out to DLP and/or Versailles, then you will need a CO valid for Zones 1-5. If all you will use it for is public transportation within Paris and a single round-trip out to DLP then a CO for Zone 1-2 and separate RER fare will save a couple of €. But if there is any question in your mind that you might use one of the public airport transfer modes (Roissyrail or Roissybus) and/or make an additional daytrip out to Chateau de Versailles....then %26#39;..risk..%26#39; the couple of extra €uro and purchase one for Zones 1-5 against the significant savings.

%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;Where can i apply at CDG for a carte orange?Is there o form that i can download from home ?%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;

You must purchase the CARTE ORANGE transportation pass when you arrive in Paris. It may be purchased at ANY RER or Metro station.

%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;2.Navigo is the new type of carte orange OR is just for Paris residents?%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;

The new NAVIGO pass system is for residents...so for your purpose, ignore references to it

%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;3.How much does a single ticket to zone 5 it cost? (ex .Marnee la Valle )%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;

The regular, round-trip RER %26#39;A-4%26#39; (any train heading in the direction of Marne-La-Vallee Chessy...with a %26#39;..Q xxx..%26#39; designator..approx 40 mins...for the return, it won%26#39;t matter...all trains go to Paris) fare from any station in Paris to the end-of-the-line at MARNE La VALLEE-CHESSY (Zone 5) is 12,50 €....BUT...as an alternative, you can purchase a one-day, MOBILIS Zone 1-5 transportation pass for 12,30€
