I have searched the web and found that there are very few direct flights from Paris (CDG) to Venice (VCE) all of which are very expensive.
Is there a more inexpensive route which is not going to take all of our day up, just travelling and sitting in airports?
For the sake of time (we only have 3 nights in Venice) we do not want to spend a day traveling by train.
Any advice would of course, be greatly appreciated.

MyAir, www.myair.com
Unless you have a compelling reason for flying from CDG you might look at options from Orly (ORY), generally an easier airport to handle and closer to the center of Paris. I think MyAir flies from both airports.

Thanks for the info. I actually thougth (naiive I know) that CDG was clsoer. Either way, the air fares I have found to date on the web have been around the 2,000 euros with Air France. I don%26#39;t have any preference other than to get there as quickly as possible and with my shirt still on my back.
cheers

Hello Rustman,
Last year we took a Ryanair to Venice from Beauvais airport about 90 miles from Paris (14E each way). Our flight left about 10 AM which necessitated leaving Paris on the connecting bus out of Paris early in the morning..........I think it was about 6 AM. The flight was cheap, about 35E roundtrip. We arrived in Italy before noon, took the bus provided into Venice (about 5E) and were in Venice about one.
Some do not like to use Ryanair since they use out of town airports, do not have much of a baggage allowance and no reserved seats (first come first seated). Planes are fine. We found it to be fine to Venice. The trip out to Beauvais from Paris, goes through some nice French countryside, albeit on the highway. To catch the bus from Paris we needed to get to the west edge of the city, Port Malliot. On our return we took an evening flight from Italy getting us back to Paris (via the bus) at about midnight.
You might try looking at their website being aware that the price they quote does not include taxes which can be as high as their flight price and that the luggage allowance is quite small. Also keep in mind the added expenses of buses into the cities from the airports they use.
Keep searching. You%26#39;ll find something reasonable.
I am sure there are other discount airlines which go into Venice too. Perhaps someone will give you other suggestions on this site.

Why fly Treviso-Beauvais (80 km from Paris, no rail link) with Ryanair when, for the same price, you can fly Venice-Orly (15 km from Paris, plenty of rail and bus links) with MyAir? It%26#39;s a no brainer for me...
rustman, for the sake of possible future air link searches, there is a good website listing all low cost carriers and their destinations worldwide (actually with a higher emphasis on Europe): www.whichbudget.com.

Someone already did.
rustman, I%26#39;m not sure where you were finding those unbelievable fares you quoted. I just checked on the AF site and one way fares from CDG to VCE are showing as 95€, round-trip 176€ including taxes. These fares are even available for flights in the next few days. Just in case the low price seats on MyAir are all sold out, or if the flight timings do not suit you might still consider AF. There are about a half dozen flights a day each way.
