shoe black

Hello all,

Are there shoe blacks (people who shine your shoes) on the streets or in shopping centres in Paris? If so, where are the good ones?

Thanks,

JC

Haven%26#39;t seen one yet ...

Many of our hotels in France gave us shoe shine little pads which we cleaned our own. They worked very well as ones shoes get very dirty in the metros and buses.

We did see a shoe shine man in the tunnel of one of the Metros.

Also we saw shoe shine chairs in the beautiful underground bathrooms ( with stain glass and beautiful wood interiors.... to the right - next to the cathedral Madeleine. I do not know is they are in use.

I do remember one other shoe shine person in an indoor shopping mall type area of Champs Elysees.

I do not remember many others --sorry.

Street-side shoe shine stands and %26#39;boot blacks%26#39; really aren%26#39;t a big thing in Paris. As noted, I%26#39;ve also seen itinerants boot blacks working in Metro passageways....but on relatively rare occasions.

As noted, there is a shoe-shine stand at the wonderful Art Nouveau public restrooms near Place de la Madeleine (and odd as the recommendation may seem it first blush...well worth the stop just to look in). But my recollection is that whoever operates the stand at Madeleine keeps somewhat irregular hours.
