Romantic restaurants in the Latin Quarter

Any suggestions for reasonably priced restaurants?

This little placeshould fulfill your criteria quite nicely--

RESTAURANT LE COUPE-CHOU--9 %26amp; 11, rue de Lanneau (at impasse Chartier), 75005, Metro: Maubert-Mutualité--

http://www.lecoupechou.com/

This restaruant is one block away from Notre Dame Cathedrale (direction of the right bank) not far away from the 5e Latin Quarter...

This cute little restaruant called %26quot;Au Vieux Paris d%26quot;Arcole%26quot;.

www.auvieuxparis.fr

The building is ivy covered, and very romantic and cozy looking inside ( rue Chanoinesse).

The menu looks great. You can make reservations on line.

Have a wonderful time in Paris!

I%26#39;ve eaten at Le Coupe Chou. The food is good but not outstanding and as long as you are not looking for a gourmet dining experience, it%26#39;s fine.

Discover, I%26#39;ve walked past the restaurant you recommend. It looks very charming with the ivy growing up the wall.

The discussion of the merits of Le Coupe-Chou has gone on for some time...and in terms of the food there, no one in there right mind would term it %26#39;..gourmet..%26#39;. The food at Le Coupe-Chou is %26quot;..good..%26quot; (with the ocasional dish rising to very good). What you get with this restaurant is a %26#39;..package..%26#39;---reasonable prices, good-to-very-good service, charming decor / romantic ambience.

Another of the %26#39;..complaints..%26#39; that some offer about this restaurant is that it attracts tourist. To a certain degree, this is true....but it also attracts a fair number of local residents, dining there for much the same reasons as above. And...if one were to eliminate restaurants frequented by tourists, one would have to eliminate every top-rated restaurant in Paris.

Are there better restaurants in the 5eme that offer as much %26#39;..romance..%26#39; as Le Coupe-Chou. Most certainly. You can head the list with La Tour d%26#39;Argent...and raise the price by a few orders of magnitude.

Better food, at somewhat higher prices...but with something less of the %26#39;..romance..%26#39; (albeit still %26#39;comfortable%26#39; ambience) of Le Coupe-Chou will be---

%26quot;And...if one were to eliminate restaurants frequented by tourists, one would have to eliminate every top-rated restaurant in Paris%26quot;. Maybe, but come what may this remark rules out Le Coupe Chou, which is definitely not %26quot;top rated%26quot; by anyone, except by a few TA fanatics in the past.

I can certainly recommend my 3 favourite restaurants in the quartier. They are small, family run places that are very popular with the local residents so it is important to either arrive early or book a table to guarantee a place. They are:

L%26#39;Époque, 81 rue du Cardinal-Lemoin

Au Bon Coin, 21 rue de la Collégiale

Le Languedoc, 64 boulevard de Port-Royal

They all serve traditional French cuisine with Le Languedoc also having popular dishes from the South-West of France. They all offer evening 3 course menus at between 14€ to 21€

I wasn%26#39;t aware that ANYONE has EVER termed Le Coupe Chou as one of Paris%26#39; %26quot;..top restaurants..%26quot;. My own description certainly didn%26#39;t give that impression---%26quot;...and in terms of the food there, no one in there right mind would term it %26#39;..gourmet..%26#39;. The food at Le Coupe-Chou is %26quot;..good..%26quot; (with the ocasional dish rising to very good). What you get with this restaurant is a %26#39;..package..%26#39;---reasonable prices, good-to-very-good service, charming decor / romantic ambience..%26quot; and was as a fairly even-handed an appraisal...and scarcely that of a %26quot;..fanatic..%26quot; by any reasonable standard you might care to apply. Sometimes.....it%26#39;s about more than the food.

But okay...cheap shots are all part of the give %26#39;n take of forums such as these...and everyone%26#39;s entitled to take one every now and then....it comes with the territory.....and that%26#39;s okay. You%26#39;ve had yours....so perhaps now you%26#39;ll offer the original poster your own restaurant recommendation(s) that fulfill their stated criteria for %26quot;...Romantic....reasonably priced...Latin Quarter...%26quot; ??

%26quot;..romance..%26quot;---like art is in the eye and the heart of the beholder. Countless MILLIONS---of ALL nationalities would disagree with your assessment...and question your useage of wholy subjective and arbitrary terms %26quot;..annoying..tacky...slick...%26quot; to support the position. That you don%26#39;t seem to find any restaurant %26quot;..romantic..%26quot; is certainly your perogative....but that you speak for 100-odd million ethnic French and the rest of the world is...well....that%26#39;s marginally silly.

If one takes notice of the oft repeated requests for %26#39;..romantic restaurants in Paris...%26quot; questions on this and almost every other Paris (and other) travel forum...or the plethora of references to %26quot;..romantic restaurant..%26quot; to be found in the international press and arts and literature; it is patently obvious that your opinion---though perfectly valid for yourself---is most definitely NOT shared by a HUGE number of others.

La Truffiere is also wonderful, great atmosphere (I think that%26#39;s what is meant by %26quot;romantic restaurant) and great food. A bit pricier, but not over the top.

Atelier Maitre Albert has a fabulous and huge fireplace. Plus, the service there is top notch.
